i love them to, so i say get them.
You could always give him plain ones for the ceremony, then give them to him at the speeches as a wedding present that he can wear at the reception, if you feel it needs toned down, if you dont feel that it should be toned down go for it.

I have ordered some similar ones for my son to have/wear from Etsy (he is lego mad), lurrrve that site :o). Lego Star Wars Yoda ones as a surprise. They are completely groovie, can't wait for them to get here.

etsy is a craft type site where anyone can sell their own creations, google esty and it should be the first one up. There thousands of things on there but search cufflinks and you'll find loads!
