i got my ceremony book through today to be told in a letter that the cost has gone up from £298 to £331 i am in shock!!! cant believe its gone up this much!!
has anyone elses gone up?? xx

Ours went up by £50, but I noticed the prices for next year are another £100, so in two years their prices have gone up by £150!

Its because of the VAT rise, apparently. I managed to get last year's price, thankfully, but its really cheeky of them. Its not like there's much to pay for apart from a tiny amount of petrol to get there and some ink and paper for the certificate. Ours went up by nearly £100. Ugh.

My venue costs went up by £200 ish, still waiting for the church to get back to me about their price increase for this year. Luckily I deposited and froze most of my suppliers fees, but there's not much you can do about the VAT increase. It is annoying though, dosent seem much, but they all add up.

we got told had the wedding been before may 2011 it would be 500, for aug 2012 its subject to two price increases and likely to be arounf thr 600 mark so they are basically adding on 50 quid a time... its ridiculous for a 20=30 min service

thats Vat for you ....it has hit everyone , and even if you have done youer deposit before the increase the venue is with in thier rights to pass the increase on to you .....so is anyone else in business .....does suck tho
some of the increases are extreme though - far more than the 2.5% VAT increase... they're taking advantage x

When I phoned to book our registrar they told me the price for our ceremony in 2013, we have that in writing to so even though it's a lot of money we know it won't go up.
Can't wait until the day I become Mrs. Johnson :)

I know how u feel....the registry office fee were £153.50...they warned me they would go up by 7% which i was fine with, until i got the letter the other day...£233.50........ummmmm thats not a 7% rise!!!!!!!!!! Luckily it had a note at the bottom of the letter that said if i paid by 31st march i could pay £153.50 ...so ive done that!

Wow ours wont let us pay early, they say that we have to pay whatever the cost is in that fiscal year...so yeah, from when we went in to when we get married it could have gone up by £100 - think it's disgusting how much they charge!!

It isnt just the vat. They put the prices up by about 10% every year about April time as do most venues and everything else.

i think its wrong... its only about 200 in reg office but to come out they will charge us 600 for similar service.... its wrong how much they hike the prices up. everything in wedding seems to be rip off

I agree it is wrong suzky. I don't know how they can justify it. It isn't like they have far to travel either and some charge more than others. Ours is about £400 for them to come out.
