I ran out of my usual No7 lotions and potions so this morning I just chucked on some Avon Care Vitamin Moisturiser. It stung a little when I put it on but didn't think anything of it. H2b was just leaving for work when he looked at me like I was freak lol! He told me to look in the mirror and this is what I found....

The rash is worse on my neck but it's all over my chest too and my face is red and blotchy. My neck has really swallon up and is puffy. I rang my GP surgery but I can't get an appointment for today but the receptionist got a GP to call me back, he think's by the sounds of it I've had an allergic reaction to an ingredient in the cream and if it gets any worse by tomorrow to go to A&E..

    Annoyed!!!

That's rubbish. I had the same thing happen a few years ago with some moisturiser from The Sanctury. The only thing I dare use is aloe vera gel now :( Hope it stops itching soon! Hx

A and E are unlikely to do anything from experience, if you've got any aloe vera or after sun cooling stuff I'd try that hun x

Thank god it wasn't on your wedding day. Have you got a list of the ingredients in it to see if you can narrow it down to what caused it just in case you need to use something in the future? Its a good job that it wasn't more serious. Hope that it goes down soon. x x

You have to be so careful these days, hope you're ok now? I had a similar reaction to a Simple face cream last year. I had to take the off work sick and see my doctor for some steriod cream. Nasty

Can't wait until the day I become Mrs. Johnson :)

Rather than going to A&E where if they are anything like our local one, they will roll their eyes and moan at you that its not a emergency (you have to be literally be dying here to get a nice response from them), then pop into a good pharmacists.

I took ONE vit b tablet which i'd bought from Holland and barratt, after many people suggesting them for my low blood pressure (i did research them myself too). Within minutes I felt really hot and sick, almost passed out twice, managed to call the h2b who was out helping a friend move house. He rushed back and called nhs direct as it was the weekend so no doc's, they kept me talking on the phone until my mum turned up to look after our little boy whilst we went round to the pharmacy, he gave me a strong antihistamine and threw the vits in the bin. he was amazed that such a high dose was available to buy off the shelf, he wouldnt even prescribe them to someone!
needless to say i wont ever be taking any vitamins/remedies etc without talking to the doctor first, scared the life out of me to think what might have happened had i passed out, being on my own with a 2 yr old!

I was stung by a hornet last summer - and my leg swelled up quite bad. I went to the local Boots and spoke to the chemist. I finished up buying an anti sting and bite cream (and the chemist used some on my leg first, before I bought it) and it worked great. It's probably better to talk to your chemist rather than A&E for a reaction like that as they'll be able to offer medical advice and something you can use/take for it.
