    Hi,

We booked a roulette table for our evening reception for £200 we thought that this would keep a lot of the boys entertained whilst us ladies had a good dance. They told us they would set it up at 6:30 (do starts at 7pm) and leave at midnight......they have just emailed me now saying they have made a mistake and that they can only do 3 hours so 8:30pm until 11:30pm.

We think this will cause disruption as they have to walk through the reception with the table etc and I don't want that, plus 3 hours seems like not a lot for £200 it doesn't allow time for everyone to have a go. They have offered us our £50 deposit back but now we are left wondering what other entertainment can we put on? Any ideas?

I have a magician coming, not the children entertainer sort, a genuineally fab magician who'll be circling the room. I also have a live band playing too x

you need to be careful with entertainment that u dont over do it and it look too gimicky. All you need is a live band... that will be amazing

I will only have a DJ as can't really afford much more than that, but as long as he plays only what I like I am happy, I wouldn't have a live band, as part of my guests are French and would rather have DJ playing French songs, and gambling (casino) is not something as popular in France and I don't like magicians or anything like comedians, so no point in having any of these for us.

do you have a contract with them? if you have a signed contrat you can ask them to sourse another entertainer offering them same thing and that if the other one charges more as they made the mistake you want them to cover the excess. a contract is a legally binding document if that states the hours of service they have to abide by them

Katya we don't have a contract just it written in emails we exchanged.

We are having a DJ but just thought it would be nice for those guys/girls who don't like to dance to have something else where they can bond with people they don't know. Some good ideas here I will get searching.....

We are having a dj, a live act, a hog roast + chocolate fountain, possibly a photo booth and large out door games of jenga and connect 4 to entertain our guests.

were having a string quartet, the singing waitors, crochet (if the weather is nice), a dove release, a dj, a vintage sweet stall and maybe something else depending on the budget once everything is paid

Oh we're gonna have a bit of a mini bike show as well with all the motorbikes outside and no doubt one or 2 offering rides around the green early on in the evening.

we wanted to keep ppl entertained without having anything too gimicky. Therefore, we have the string quartet, cariacturist, live band and fireworks (which yes is a gimmick but ah well). Debating outside games as will be nice if sunny but mil2b and mob think it may be tacky given the venue... was not impressed with that comment esp as I still may go ahead with it. Croc how did you find the crochet?
