Wedding Forum - Help with ideas please x...

hiya ladies, i need some help i cannot deside on a style for wedding invitations, one or two ideas i've shown h2b he has said look tacky yet says its up to me what i choose, but i have not a clue and would love for you ladies to offer some ideas, either something a little different or perhaps a design you've chosen yourself? thanks xx

i got mine from a shop, i saw some that suited me perfectly and they just happened to be on sale so i bought them x

we are going for formal with a modern twist as we want lots of squares and will add a diamante buckle somewhere... not desgned them yet but seen what we want. we are having white, red and black just need to think about how its going to go. Could you not do what we are doing and buy small bits of everything and play?

I've just started making mine today. Our theme is teal and silver so we've printed our invites on ivory hammered card then attached this to a slightly bigger piece of teal card with a teal bow at the top. They look so professional I was amazed. I'll get some pics up tomorrow.x

i tried making my own and although i really like them im not sure that they will be big enough to hold all the info and not cost the earth to post!! which has just reminded me i havent budgeted for this oops!! hmmm £1 per invite?? im no good at remembering postage!!

I want to make my own too. I want to keep it quite simple with a photo of my fiance and I on the front. :) xxx

I have used some personalised ribbon which doesn't cost that much. I have it in wedding invitation, evening invitation, thank you, order of service and also with our names and date on for the place cards and table numbers etc.

I'm using a strip of paper that I like in our wedding colours with the ribbon going around it and a gold buckle/slider. Sometimes simple is more effective when it comes to home made.

Other ways to keep them looking professional is to use a stamp and ink or embossing powders and some ribbon. Again keep the design simple for it to be effective. Also make sure you use card templates for placing items on the cards so they are all level and in the same place. If you use peel off stickers make sure you place them using a ruler so they don't go on wonky. Use a home printer to print the inserts off to make them look pro and then use some 3mm double sided tape to stick them to the card rather than glue.

You can also use ribbons with sliders or buckles to add some glamour or laying the ribbon around flat and adding some crystal stick on gems.

If you are wanting to stick a photo on its always nice to frame it in some way either by getting cards with the cut out on or even sticking the photo on and then adding some stick on flowers or something just to give it an edge. Ebay is great for getting your bits and bobs in at a good price. I'm just getting loads of things for my scrapbook.

I think we will go for pocketfold invitations as we don't have a website - maybe closer to the time I'll set one up... Perhaps over the summer when I am off school. Which website did you use? Would you please pop it on my wall, if you don't mind?
