I am as H2B's best man has bailed out on him and I feel he derserves to have a speech about him and about how I feel about him. As he has no one else to do one, Im going to step up and do one for him.

I am, as I'm giving myself away I've no father of bride, so My best man will speak, then I will and then my H2B,or I might change the order a little before then... but yeah I want to thank my bridal party and guests, I reckon a glass of champers might be needed though!

Mainly it's because I want to mention my late dad, but also I do want people to know how happy Dan makes me really. It has surprised me as in the past public speaking (during school college etc.etc) has always terrified me but since these are the people we want to share our special day with then hopefully I will not be feeling nervous- just contented.

I would like to but knowing what a wimp I am i will be all psyched up and then opt out at last minute, even worse stand up and then total stage fright - open ones mouth to speak and nowt will come out. LOL
My H2b doesnt like standing up in public to speak even if it is in front of family and friends - so i stupidly offered to do one. Thought he would say no no its ok ill be fine, but no he didnt did he, he said - yeah I like the sound of that. grrr help what do I do.LOL. : ) x

I'm thinking about it..... We're not 100% on what we are doing with speeches anyway, and h2b isn't the most confident in this area, so I might say something short - mostly thanks n stuff. We'll see - it's on the list of "decisions to feed the h2b gently over the next few months" - LOL

I asked my sister who is one of my bridesmaids to say a few words so she is not sure if its in the church or the venue yet havent decided on that bit yet and also i asked my mum to give me away and said to my dad that thats what i wanted and if he didnt want to give a speech then that was fine id understand but he's happy that my mum is giving me a way and still happy to give a speech cos i know i mum wouldnt stand up and say a few words cos shes shy lol

i tried to give a speech at my daughters christening but was overcome with emotion and started to cry! so....i wont be giving a speech at my wedding and will be leaving it to my h2b ;)

Think I will go with the flow and see how I feel. Sometimes less is more for the Bride. Also I am used to speaking in public so have developed a corporate tone and I would hate for it to turn into "meeting mode" in my attempts to control my emotions. Trust me, pinging an elastic band on your wrist really does help with focusing yourself.
Having said that, I dont have a mum (she is on a boat in Monaco somewhere) but I do have a best friend that has been like a mum to me and I do feel that she deserves a special mention as not many people know how much she has done for me.

H2b isn't a big fan of speaking in front of people so I offered to do the main speech to thank everyone together, he seems to be happier with that and I do want to say a couple of things! I'm not really too shy when it comes to public speaking as I've done it quite a lot, and seeing as it's only going to be family and friends, I'm not too nervous!

We're not having proper speeches on the wedding day. We'll probably have more formal speeches at the rehearsal dinner the night before but on the actual wedding day we're planning to have "Top Table Just a Minute" based on the Radio 4 panel game.

not a chance would i make a speech. As confident as i am i just couldnt get up there and get all deep and meaningful without going the colour of beetroot with matching eyes and nose when i get emotional!
