Im not worried, mobile phones are important for people, especially if they have travelled to the wedding, its unfair to ask them to leave them at home! Most people are sensible and put them on mute or silent at weddings, and if one goes off its not the end of the world, I would most probably not even notice! I'm having one of the BMs put mine in her little bag because I want mine with me for later in the day - want to ring my gran at the reception and include her in my day as she is not able to make it to the wedding - want her to know I havent forgotten about her! x

I am gonna get the ushers and best man to be the mobile phone patrol. hehehe. Everyone will be asked to pop their mobiles on silent during the day. Just out of courtisey. If they go off-then whatever. I will be annoyed and they will get a frown off me. But knowing my luck, it will be mine that goes off.hahahaha.xx

tbh i think its cheeky to expect them to have their mobile phones off all day when there's some that might be there without kids and need to check up on babysitters etc etc..

during the ceremony fair enough..it would be rather rude if we had someone's phone gone off..lucky there was no incidents lol

Well it was too optimistic for the woman in the row in front of us at the last play I went to see. Her mobile wrang...she answered it....actually went on to explain where she was and then finally hung up...we could not believe it! It was obviously not an emergency as we could hear every word...just sheer ignorance! Anyone else remember the good old days of not being contactable 24/7?

i went to a wedding recently and the person conducting it asked ppl to turn their phones off before they started maybe you could ask for that?

i dont think you could ask ppl not to bring them or have them switched off as becca said what if they have children with babysitters or their is an emergency? we were meant to go to a wedding last yr and couldnt go in the end i was calling h2b parents and sister who were there already to tell them h2b had been attacked so i was relieved they had theirs on xx

I'm not exactly the serious kind of person - so if some was to get a text during the ceremony and it bleeped - then I think it'd break the seriousness up a bit (I definitely hope I'm smiling a bit during the wedding and definitely not crying lol).

I'd def go with the toastmaster....firstly it then looks like it's the venues fault, secondly that can be put down to experience from previous weddings, thirdly ppl can't say they didnt know/missed the sign.
Is it better to go onto silent, some people may only have camera phones? X

I agree with what everyone else has suggested. Every wedding that I have been to recently, have been told before the ceremony begins to turn their phones off (civil and church). I will also be asking for phones to be switched off during the speeches.

i dont think you can ask people not to bring their phone. if i got told that then i wouldnt go to the wedding! no, i wouldnt use it there but i would feel lost without it being in my bag and i think it is quite rude. everyone will put it on silent but the odd person may forget but it wont be on purpose.

just ask the ushers to ask guests to put phones on silent as they are arriving! xx

vicky Mine is the same - no reception at the venue, so no one will be making or receiving calls !!

And I have clearly stated this on the invitation that there is no signal. So everyone is fully aware.

Personally i think it is out of order and really rude to have your phone on you without it being on silent. Whenever i go to a wedding i do take my phone but i put it on vibrate and stick it in my bag - nothing is important enough that it cant wait for half an hour or so between checking if you have messages!!!

If we did have reception at the venue and someones phone went off during speeches - I would expect that someone would make a joke about it - but i wouldnt be too happy!

It wouldn't bother me, as most people are sensible and will put them on silent or turn them off during the ceremony....i made the mistake last year of turning my phone off (as thats what you normally would do) then realised that my camera is my phone and visa versa and couldn't turn it back on until after the ceremony as if i'd turned it back on during it it would have made a noise before i got chance to mute it. And as most people nowadays use the cameras on their phones most people won't want to turn them off.........xx

Thats a good point a lot of people will be using the cameras on their phone.

What i suggest is that you tell the ushers to tell all guests as they greet them to the wedding
'Hi welcome bla bla bla - and please remember to turn your phones to silent. thank you have a good day bla bla '

a lot of people will be like 'Oh yeah thanks for reminding me!'

Im going to do that actually - even though there is no reception at the venue, there is a chance someone will attempt to do something that makes noise!! hehe!

I take my phone everywhere but have the decency and common sense to at least put it on silent and just checking on it now at then at appropriate times. Wouldn't be impressed if I heard a phone or could see people playing with phones during my ceremony or at the meal.
