Ooo you can get them slider things for a couple of quid for 50 on ebay so they are not that much but would make the difference. I think simple and elegant works best.

I prefer number 2, I like invitations that fold open like cards. Also I think that the ones that are printed onto a single piece of flat card look cheap, even though I know this isn't the case!!
