Hi I have been reading about Escort cards / Wishing Trees at receptions which are used in place of a seating plan and very popular in USA.
I have read mixed reviews...some great...some bad as people were frustrated as they could not find their names etc and I was just wondering if anyone had been to a wedding where there was one and what you thought of it? Is it a bit of a faff or something different and added to the day? Thanks

    Hiya,

I am thinking about having a wishing tree instead of a guestbook. But they are really expensive to buy. So debating making one myself. So we will see! xx

I have not been to a wedding where there has been one, but we ae going to do it. I'm really looking forward to getting started on making the cards for it. I'm going to put some ribbon on to keep with the colour sceam, and also but some beads on thred and tie them to the bottom. Really excited by this :)

I'm having a wishing tree. God I wish I hadn't bothered now. H2b and I had our first discussion over it just now. I had my beady eye on a branch up the road from us for ages. Every Time we go past I say how it would be perfect. Well tonight we drove past and it was on the floor. H2b wouldn't stop the car for me to go and get it so I said I would walk it as its a two minute walk for most people. Anyways he didn't want me to do it as he knows I'm suffering at the moment but to be honest I didn't care I wanted that branch. He really didn't want me to go so I got my best sulky lip out. In the end a very unhappy h2b went round and got it for me. Its perfect and I love it but not at the cost of him not being so happy about it. He only went to stop me going for it and I feel like a spoilt brat now. On the positive side we still love each other, we have our wishing tree and I can make my salt dough hearts to hang from it.

I'm going to hang them from the tree with people's names that are grouped together so they can find them easier as they will be arranged with a table on each major branch. OK it may take a little longer for them to find their names but that is all part of the fun. It will then be used later in the evening for my wishing tree.

    yes me...

i think its a fab idea as there are soooo many different ways to dispaly them ad get your personalitys out...

were were going to do an 8ft tree BUT my venue have said no ....

so now where dispalying them on either chmapagne corks or wine corks...then each card which will be slotted in to the cork will tell the guest there table number

and why corks... cos me and h2b love wine and champers!! he also like beer did didnt think displaying them on a crushed carling can very classy haha

Ah Jo, at least you got your tree and you are not a spoilt brat! Sometimes people do not appreciate how important things are especially when it is not as easy for you to accomplish something as people who are fully fit. If he had only stopped the car when you first asked! ha ha. I am sure he is over it now and will love the finished article....especially once you do the salt dough hearts which sound lovely. I for one am looking forward to seeing the pics x

I know you are having one Croc!....I too love the idea but people are just getting on my nerves moaning about things. I could see it ending up me standing at the tree and stotting the tags of the miseries heads! ha ha I was wondering why you wanted those champagne corks!
