Im having a bad time finding the right venue...ive seen some that i love but just too expensive and the cheaper ones just dont cut it! At first i completely ruled out registry office, but now im thinking it could be a good idea...the only problem is we are getting married in Birmingham and i dont like the look of the registry office =[ i know some of them are like gorgeous old buildings and full of character but this one ISNT. I dont want to offend anyone that is getting married there, but in my opinion it looks horrible, and its on a main road. Where do the photos get taken? i dont want a photo of me and h2b stood by the side of a road on my wall for the rest of our lives!!! So if i was to get married there, could i find somewhere else to get the photos done?? Also, does this option even work out any cheaper?? anyone know the average cost of a registry office wedding?? ALSO, i want a nice poofyish dress...will this look stupid in a registry office??? I need help please girlies! xxx

1,you can wear whatever style dress you want 2,have you pictures done at your reception venue 3,have one venuse and have ceremony and reception in one place
ive been looking at the 3rd option but it is working out sooooo expensive! =[ i have just found a nice little place that just does the ceremony which i dont think is too expensive, so maybe this is an option instead of registry and then i can get a village hall or something for the reception =]

We are having a reg office wedding and having a seperate reception venue. We are having some photos taken outside the reg office and inside and then we are going to stop of some where to get other photos done before moving onto the reception. Our reg office is working out about £300. xx

I don't know how much a registry office wedding is but church weddings can still be quite affordable, if you are happy to get married in a church. Neither of us is religious, but we're looking at a basic church wedding for around £350 because its affordable and we like the architecture. Most churches are a lovely setting for photos and in my opinion they don't require massive amounts of decoration because they are such beautiful buildings to begin with :) Just an idea, don't worry if a church wedding isn't the thing for you. Good luck :) xxx
im getting married in the registry office, yes its a lovely old building, and its costing £143.50 for the room and service

We will either be having a registry office wedding or if I can keep a tight rein on the purse strings then it will be in some pretty gardens about half an hour from us. But even then I went further afield to find the registry office I liked the look of, the one local to us is horrible! So you can look at the possibility of another registry office? It does work out cheaper, and so if we can't have the garden wedding then we will still be able to get married as it will save us about £1000 that way. And I will wear my big puffy dress no matter what the venue, I love it! :D
Finally reunited with the love of my life
Never to part again
This Saturday I will finally be Mrs Codling!

I'm getting married at Brighton town hall registry office and having photo's at the hotel before, wedding venue and reception venue. The hotel is very distinguished with lovely stairways, fireplaces, mouldings and chandeliers. The town hall is also quite a nice looking building and our reception venue is stylish, modern with amazing views over the sea.
Got married 11/11/11.

Thanks girlies! These all sound fab...i thought about a church, but i dont beleive in God so i think it would be a tad hipocritical...i might have a look round to see if there is another registry office in brum, i thought there would be loads, but i think they have all been amalgamated now =/ i will have to have another good look on the web...=]

The registry office where we want to get married at is right in the middle of all the council buildings in Croydon which isn't nice, but they have lovely gardens out the front that look gorgeous in full bloom. Maybe ask the registry office where people normally go to have their photos done? Or ask local photographers where they would suggest? Of course, you can have them taken at your venue as well, but if there's somewhere close to the registry office that is something other than wall/pavement etc, maybe it's worth checking it out? x

We are getting married in a registry office but it is beautiful, really old building, sweeping staircase inside, oak beams, leaded windows, very lovely but not great for pictures outside. Our car driver is taking us to a lovely spot by the river en-route to the reception to get some nice photos done there with our photographers then more at the reception. There must be more than one registry office to choose from in Birmingham, do a little research and I'm sure you will find something a bit more pretty! And as for the poofly fluffy girly dress.... do it! I'm doing the whole wedding dress thing, it doesnt matter these days! xx

if u can afford it go for church. And you can have whatever dress u want. Photies can get done at any point, esp when at reception venue if they have nice grounds.
