Just wondered how your wedding costs are split? H2b and I are paying for everything except cake as my mum is paying for that although shes only on pension credit, has no savings, is a widow and will struggle. We've told her not to but she won't listen and would pay for more if she could. His parents haven't offered to contribute which upsets h2b as they have money for many holidays and hes their only child who's ever going to get married. At the moment we are managing to save £300 per month hence why we had to put our wedding back a year. xxx

We're paying ourselves, but hoping to ask a few favours from family friends regarding invitation making, cake, DJ and possibly flowers. My mum did say that once we've worked out costing for everything they would contribute something, which came as a massive surprise as I was always told growing up that as they paid for their wedding, I would have to pay for mine lol. x

weve saved as much as we could, my parents have doubled everything that we have managed to get together. his parents havnt offered a penny which really annoys me as my parents are not well off at all, my mum has been disabled for over ten years. xx
We're mostly paying for it ourselves. My mum is giving us some towards it, I told her she didn't need to, but she said that she helped out my sister for hers so she would for mine. I feel bad about it though, becuase she was working when my sister got married, and she'd retired now.

We re tyring to save as much as we can. My mum has offered to put some towards it, but dont know how much yet. My mum offerd us money but the other day she told me I should ask my dad about some toward the wedding. I can't be cheaky and ask. I wouldn't of asked her. My H2B have not said if the will make any contrabution but I don't think they will.

im in a similar position to vixie. My gran has put £1000 and my dad a £1000 towards the wedding. My mum has got my dress (£850) and is ment to be getting the bm dresses and photography (another 1000 or so). My mil had said she would get us the car (£300) then said she would only give £250 towards it.Now she say's she will give £200 , by the time the wedding comes arround it will be nothing, it is really annoying me that my family is putting loads towards it and they are hardly putting a penny in the jar, it is not as if my family are well off im pretty sure they are all on the same pay scale.
But it is just his parents for you, at christmas their they gave his daughter £100 for christmas and his son £40 (how is that fair?) and said they were going to give £20 each (to me and my two boys) then put it down to £40 for the three of us.So it doesnt surprise me

We have paid the majority of things ourselves. But my parents have bought my dress and are paying towards the suits. Which was awesome of them as they live in New Zealand so it's really expensive for them
H2b parents have been great. They have paid for our rings, towards the flowers and money towards suits as well.
We have called in a lot of favours too. Mum made all our invites and others have helped too.
Every little helps

We are fortunate to be recieving a lot of help
My mum and dad both are contributing the same amount, My dads giving us the money my mum is paying for bits she wishes to out of the money. My Mil2b is lovely and making our cake, paying for the catering, paying for our entertainment for the evening. She even paid half the suits cost.
Money is tight for us but everything will come together and be fab :) xx
Is now happily married to my gorgeous man

Our budget is about £9000 ish and my dad is giving us half and we have to save the rest. I couldnt believe it when he said he would give us that much, I never expected it. H2b parents have a lot more money than my side but they have more important things to worry about (their words not mine)!! My bridesmaids have all said they will pay a bit towards their dresses and my grandparents have said they will contribute instead of a gift as they know we have everything for our house, not sure how much as I feel cheeky to ask as we havent sent invites or anything yet. Need to get saving as much as possible but I am so bad at saving!! x

We're really lucky as my mum and dad are paying for most of the wedding. My dad gave me my budget and told us to spend it as we saw fit. We'll be paying for the rings, cars and honeymoon. My auntie is making our cake for us and my mum's card-making friend is gonna do our invites for us. xx

We are getting £2000 from my dad, my mum can't afford to contribute but that's fine by me I would never dream of asking her to. His parents I think will give us a little bit of money but not sure how much yet. We will save as much as we can ourselves, but we have already decided we don't really want to spend any more than £5000 all together, and that still brings me out in a cold sweat!

we are getting parents from all our parents as they are both divorces married again etc, we have to put a little to but are paying for honeymoon ourselves

I'm lucky as h2b has been saving for years so we had the money ready to spend. I've brought lots of the little things over the past months to try and cushion some of it from him but he is paying most of it. His mum and dad have also been kind and told us they are helping out with suits etc. I think most days the bride and groom fund their own weddings now.

We're all paying for something - mum and dad are paying for the reception and church and our families suits, his family are paying for their sides suites, flowers and bridesmaid things. We're paying for the rest

Me and h2b have just opened a joint savings account to begin proper savings for our wedding, My dad said he wants to buy my dress because although he cant full fill the real tradition (where the bride's father pays for the whole wedding) he would at least like to be able to buy my dress so i said thats cool with me and my mum said she wants to buy little bits an piece's and contrabute to our savings account when ever she has money spare so at the moment our target savings looks achievable :) x

My parents are very traditional and want to pay for everything but I have asked them to give us money as a gift so I can use it appropriately as I know they cant do the whole thing and do not want to compromise our decisions to fit in with their budget. My Mil2b wants to 'buy in' to the wedding too but after the engagement if they actually offer again (which I doubt!) they will be told it is going towards the honeymoon or something she cannot try and control.

we are paying it all ourselves. Saving up £400 a month and doing as much overtime as poss to stick a bit more in each month. My parents both live on their own and struggle but my Dad is still giving us £1500 and my Mum has paid for my dress. H2B's parents have offered to buy the cake.(!)

I'm really lucky, my dad has given us £5k towards the wedding, his parents have said they'll contribute, but we're not sure how much, and then h2b and I will be paying the rest, although we've budgeted about £8k for the wedding, so we've not really got that much to save up thankfully!

My parents are paying for our reception(incl food and wine on tables etc) venue and my dress, we are paying for the rest. H2B mother is on a low income so she is going to try and contribute where she can, which we understand xx

we are paying for everything unless anyone offers to put money in. H2B's mum is giving £2000 as a wedding present - which we are choosing not to put towards wedding unless absolutely necessary. i have asked my grandparents if they would put some money towards our wedding rings instead of a wedding gift. a friend of mine has booked us a wedding photographer - as her best mate does it (so grateful for that) im making the wedding cakes, ive made the invites - 100 invites for £60!! my dress was £115 so not too much but was asking my parents if they would buy that as a wedding present but mum is visiting tomorrow and said she'd speak to us about the wedding so i think she wil be giving money from her and dad. h2b's dad doesnt really want to put in!! which surprised me a little!
our wedding isn't costing a great deal - have managed to do it so far for £2000!!! whole family are so shocked at the low cost but impressed! all booked and sorted!! im so pleased with myself, everything is hand made where possible by me and im going for less is more approach for the decoration! the eve venue has a nice decoration so our added extras will be just right! cant complain at 100 helium balloons for £8 - bargain!! cost may go up to £2500 if we decide to push the boat out and get a hog roast instead of a BBQ buffet!
xx

H2b's parents are paying all our photo costs and we had a chunk of money put in by h2b's gran. Sadly she passed away before christmas so she wont see what her money paid for :(

We are paying for everything ourselves. My Dad rang earlier and wants to give us some money and we actually nearly had a ding dong, lol. He feels because he contributed to my brothers and my stepsisters wedding, that he should pay towards mine. I have agreed to let him pay for my dress as that is one of the most important items to me.

We are paying for the majority ourselves between us, H2b parents are paying the cake and my mum and stepdad are paying £1200 towards the reception pack as they wanted to upgrade so they could invite a couple of people and also £200 towards our videographer. My nan also gave me £300 towards dress as i was going to buy one offline and she didnt like the idea so said shed do that so i could afford to get one from the bridal shop!! x
CommentAuthorkoodai
We are paying for it, although my step-daughter has offered to do the cake and my mum has offered to do all the invites etc, so thats a little money saved. Where I can make/do things myself I will do. I'm not expecting my parents or H2B's father to contribute to costs, I wouldnt dream of it, but if anyone wants to help with anything like their time rather than money, then they are always welcome!
