as in the title my H2B wants to book a holiday for the summer to Tenerife. Looking at prices it will cost about £1200 including food and drink. I really want to save for a deposit on a house and our wedding. I have offered for us to stay in my Aunts holiday home in France for free and would only cost us £90 on the ferry but he says he doesn't know. I've said we can have a big honeymoon to make up for missed holidays and go somewhere special that we couldn't afford as a normal holiday but he pulls a face. Am i being selfish?

The problem is I work in a school and he's in the army so we can only go in August and everywhere is expensive in the school holidays. I think we'r going to go to France and have a long weekend away somewhere else at some point in the year.......... if he doesn't change his mind :)

Well he wants to leave the army in 12 months and wants to get a place then as will be moving out of army accommodation so we cant guarantee in 12 months we will be able to save for anything as we will need money saved just for him to live on in case he cant find a job straight away.

my h2b wants to go on holiday this year ... poor thing works so hard... if he ends up going to sinapore tomr for the day then we can go on a BA holiday for free as he will have enough airmiles!!! but if he doesnt go tomr then we might not get a holiday unless he gets some more big flights before sept

as were moving house in a week and wedding in 16 weeks i just cant justify 3k on a holiday and i feel so guilty

agree with the sacrifice comment. If you want the wedding of your dreams and you are paying for it yourselves, then you have to save for it!
I guess it depends on whether you can afford to save up enough for the wedding AND have the holiday.

We went to Australia for 3 weeks last September, but it was booked before H2B proposed. And saving up for spending money was a bit sickening when it could have all gone into the wedding fund! lol

We will be going on holiday in june, wedding is december next year.. so still loads to go...
Holiday cost us about £1000 for 10 days, could just put that money towards the wedding, but can just try and cut wedding costs to afford both.
The wierd thing is - we are not going on honeymoon after wedding... :/ Becouse its just before Xmas. Probbably will go somewhere few months later though. Seems a bit wierd maybe, but i feel all right about it i guess. :) Will just be having honeymoon at home :D:D:D lol

me and my H2B wanted to go on holiday this year but i said all the money we spend on a holiday could just go on the wedding and a really nice honeymoon so i convinced him not to. we have booked a £9.50 sun holiday to just have a break away and hope to go on a cruise round the med for our honeymoon we are getting married july 2012.
you are not being selfish KatiJane at the end of the day sacrifices have to be made when organising a wedding

how about u set a wedding budget that u know no matter what happens u will be able to stick to? then see what if any u could afford to put away for a holiday? seperatly.Like say if u could afford to budget £150 a week away over a yr and half that would give u a budget of 11.850 for your wedding (this is just an example) then u would have another 6 months to save same 150 a week for 6 months that would give u 3.600 for a holiday (which u wouldnt need that much for a weeks hols) but if u wanted a budget of 15000 then of course u would have to sacrifice the holiday sit down work it out stick to it and see what happens sometimes we come in under budget sometimes we go over budget. good luck xx

p,s explain that u could have a more longer or exotic holiday if he waited for u honeymoon x

H2b wants to book a holiday for this summer but thankfully his favourite place to go is France so we are looking online to find a self catering gite to stay in for a week. But if it proved too expensive he would rather stay at home with me and the kids so we can afford to get married. I thought men were meant to be more logical anyway, lol, he should see that if you go on this holiday then a lot of other things will have to be sacrificed, all for a couple of weeks in the sun. France can be just as hot as Tenerife in the Summer, and it is so pretty, would he not just be glad to have a holiday with you regardless of where it is? xx

i wish i could go away before but i cant, next time on holiday will be the honeymoon, its only 10 months to wait, but being regular travellers - trying to holiday 4 or 5 times a year its hard!
