I've also heard that your H2B can just put it on at the same time as the ring but either or will be fine x

Why cant they just put the wedding ring after the engagement ring?? Should I take the engagement ring off??
CommentAuthorTrish Goddard
I have decided NOT to wear my Engagement ring once we are married....
The reason is that i am having a large wedding ring (10mm) and they both wont fit on my finger. So it will go in my box and stay there... I only had a cheap Engagement ring (£50) for this reason!
CommentAuthorloubyscooby
Just found this .... Tradition says that the wedding ring should be worn first and that it should never be taken off! Some people still believe the superstition that if the wedding ring is taken off something bad will happen to the wearer, their spouse or their marriage! Thus, the ‘correct’ way to wear the rings together is the wedding band first and then the engagement ring worn on top of it. Some believe that wearing the engagement ring on top of the wedding band also ‘protects’ it and keeps it stable and grounded together with their marriage.
During a Wedding Ceremony To follow the ‘wedding band on bottom and engagement ring on top’ rule, brides tend to put their engagement ring on their right finger during their wedding ceremony, leaving their left ring finger free to accept the wedding ring. Then, once the ceremony is over and the rings and vows have been exchanged the new bride will place her engagement ring on top of her new wedding band.
Wearing the rings this way also backs up the superstition of never taking the wedding ring off, as engagement rings with their precious stones and delicacy sometimes need to be taken off for cleaning or when the wearer is undertaking sports or tasks that may cause damage. All of which can be done safely without affecting the wedding band!

It's right what they say

I plan to wear my rings in the order that I was given them, so I'm going to wear the engagement ring on the left hand for the ceremony and he will put the wedding ring on after it, as that's how I'm going to wear them.

remember to take your engagement ring off a few days before the wedding so u dont have the indentation left on ur naked finger!!
CommentAuthorRedBee12
Oh kateh, I don't know if I will be able to do that, feel lost without it :( I love reading all of the superstitions and traditions, but never heard of the ring one! xx
CommentAuthorSoon2beMrsHall
I will be wearing mine on my right hand. I dont have and indentation on my finger as my ring is to big and keeps slipping around or off sometimes.

I like the traditions about the ring, not heard them b4! Although it is a bit ridiculous to "never" take your wedding ring off!! Personally I always take my rings off when i go in the shower or wash up. Otherwise they get grubby looking and its a breeding ground for germs if it's wet under your ring.
CommentAuthork
i am gonna walk down the aisle with my engagement ring on and then when i get to the front one bridesmaid will take my bouquet and the other will look after my engagement ring and then when i get the bouquet back i will also put my ring back on xxx
CommentAuthorkateh3
id feel lost takin mine off too but it ul look daft if the photographers takin a close up of the ring goin on my finger or somat n iv got a groove lol think im gonna get my bridesmaid to look after it tho i think it ul go if i just take it off over night tho!
CommentAuthorLiz3yy
Am I the only person who thinks it's wrong to wear your ring when washing/in the shower and when cooking? I hatevthe thoughtvof my precious ring getting dirty or damaged so I always take it off when making dinner or am in the bath
Can't wait until the day I become Mrs. Johnson :)
CommentAuthorjoey86
Liz3yy - I take my ring off when I'm washing up etc! I don't want to lose it in the water and not realise until it's too late! So I'll be taking my wedding ring off too when it comes to it in a few years. The first ring h2b ever bought me broke and I swear that it was because I wore it all the time and it just wore through (in fact, a bit of wire sliced straight through it!). Dunno what to do with my engagement ring on the day - my right hand ring finger is a different size to my actual ring finger...! Have strange hands lol. Also, have no idea what ring to get to suit my engagement ring...!
CommentAuthorkateh3
my jewellers will clean my rings anytime i drop it off for half an hr whilst im in town but yeah they do get dirty but if i kept takin it off i would end up loosing it!!!!
CommentAuthorlil miss sunshine
i like the idea of one of the bridesmades taking it i did read somewhere that you give it to MOB just before the ceremony but I'm diffo taking it off if it can fit on right hand will put it there if not BM will have to hold it for me
and now the next chapter
CommentAuthormrssidders2b
Joey and liz - I'm the same! Was about to ask if anybody else removes their ring when washing, prepping food etc lol! My problem is I used to never wear rings cos I always lose them. Here's hoping I don't lose my engagement ring lol

never ever removed my ring..... the only time i will remove it is the day i get married!!
CommentAuthormrsbriggs
yeah im liking the idea of puttin it on my right hand as my fingers are the same size, at least that way you dont forget who has it and as soon as the ceremony is over you can swap hands.
CommentAuthortilomilo
what about the eternity ring .. i thought that went on first, then the wedding ring, and then the engagement ring .. so you would have to take the wedding ring off to put the eternity ring on when you eventually get it lol...

its so confusing lol, and my right hand finger is too fat to wear my engagement ring, so will have to give it to someone to save for me, think i will like my h2b to put it on after the wedding ring :)

I take mine off to shower, cook, clean and sleep, and attach it to my chain so I know where it is! I wore my first constant and the diamond was loose and to white gold colour faded after 2 months, so I am taking great care with this one! I can managed without it for about 10 mins while busy but then look at my bare hand and hate it! Lol MrsBarker to be, I never considered how that many rings would look on my hand, but think I might have a similar problem :p I would have thought eternity ring last as a kind of 'seal', if that makes sense :p xx

good god, i started this thread and its caused so much confusion lol x

see i was going to wear my engagement ring on my right hand till after ceremony but ive tried it on my other hand n its too small so might just give it to moh x

I thought you got an eternity ring when you got your frist child??

I'm wearing my E ring first with the wedding ring over the top, so I'll be wearing my E ring on the left hand on the wedding day. I'm terrified that it will somehow leap off my finger when I'm not looking, so wearing the wedding ring over the top to protect it a bit.
