I have always had problems with my hair colour and skin tone when it comes to makeup. I want to look pretty on my wedding day, what bride doesn't?! Therefore, I am PLEADING for advice on the right colours to go for, something subtle for a vintage, feminine look. I don't have dark ginger hair, or bright red hair - more like an orange-red colour. This probably doesn't helo at all, but any direction would be much appreciated :)

I like to make a statement and I have red (RED red, like a fire engine) and I would be tempted to go for subtle shades of green and yellow to show off the red, and also because I have blue eyes (which I assume you would do as well being a redhead) it seems to set them off nicely. The proper colour for showing off blue eyes is meant to be orange, but that would probably not look great with red hair unless yo manage to get the perfect shade! Another colour mix I go for is yellow on the insides of my eyes (closest to my nose) and pink on the edges which is quite pretty and not too in your face. As for skin tone, don't go over the top with blusher etc. If you're a natural red head you'll have natural pale skin - work with it not against it! Also, don't go too red with lipstick as it'll make you look more pale and thin your lips. However, if you did want to go red use a lip pencil to draw round your lipline, then brush a thin layer of lipstick on and top up with lipgloss, wouldn't be too red then! Also bear in mind darker colours will make eyes and lips look smaller, whereas lighter colours will make them look bigger! Hope this helps x

Thanks for such a speedy reply! I actually have greenish eyes which is the odd thing, having blue eyes would make things so much easier!! Lighter colours are probably the way forward definitely...I just wish I could settle with pinks but sometimes they just look a bit clashy! Greens are probably the way forward like you say..but your yellow/pink combo sounds ace I'll have to try that out! Thanks so much!! xx

Lol, having green eyes with red hair isn't an odd thing at all, I do too! Although my red is very dark and looks almost brown in some lights... I can't help on the makeup per se, since I regularly colour my hair and on the big day will be a brunette (don't think anyone has seen my natural colour since I got pregnant with my eldest lol) but take a trip down to your local department store and search out their helen e stall - their make up is very subtle but accentuates everything, I love it and bought their products for my big day :)

I am a red head but i dye my hair a darker but bright shade of red now, underneath it I am more auburn. But from looking at your photo and your china doll skin I would agree and say a light shade of green. I have so many models in wedding magazines who with your hair colour wear shades of green or yellow with pale rosy cheeks and dusky pink lips. Are you planning on having your make up done for you on the day or are you doing it yourself? If done for you then they will do a trial anyway to find the colours to best suit your colouring and your style, but either way I am sure you will look amazing on your wedding day. x
