    Hi
I was wondering if any one has, or are, using websites such as buy-my-honeymoon etc etc? If so how did you find the website? did it live up to your expectations?
Im slightly confused how it works despite reading the FAQ several times!! I want to avoid commision charges from pay pal so would prefer cheques brought to the wedding on the day. I think this is how it works??

Any help and advice in plain old english will be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks x

yep we have used buy our honeymoon, although we changed the URL to the-gift-of-memories cause we thought that was better! A one off fee of £55 and all money goes straight to our own account. We rathered that that some company holding the money for us, in case they went bust! Also some companies take a % of each donation, or a final figure of around 9% of your total amount which we didnt want.

with buy our honeymoon you dont have to use paypal, but we are. You can get people to select gifts, then bring that amount of money with them to the wedding and pop it in your post box. its totally up to you how you collect the money.

I used gettingmarried to setup a website and it provides you with a link to your paypal account if you have one, and it's free.

There were other websites, but some charged, and some I didn't know whether to trust or not - no real way of telling, so I went with just using PayPal because I've had an account with them for years, and I know I can get money into my bank from my PayPal account no worries.

    ah thanks ladies

Thats what i worry is businesses going bust and i dont like that they charge commission on items. I think paypal charges 3% plus 20p per item ?? Think il stick to getting cheques off people on the day. I just want guests to see what they are buying rather than just giving money in a wishing well.

I love you idea Linzi, of changing the URL, it does make it sound a bit better.

What were the little cards (for guests) they give you like?

    x x

Some friends of ours used travel consellors, and said it was good. We've booked our honeymoon with Thomas Cook and they said that if we get any vouchers they will give the value back to us how we paid. ie if we pay by credit card, they will refund the ammount that we get in vouchers back to the credit card.
