wow wouldnt that be lovely if s/he could marry you!!! I would have loved mine to marry us if we were having a church wedding! My RE teacher helped me get through school, she was the best!!! :)
if your old RE teacher did marry you, that would be a nice little extra to add to the OOS saying that you chose the vicar because s/he has been in your life since you were a child, and explain how you realised they'd become a vicar etc xxx

Haha! what a funny coincidence!? I would faint if i saw my old R.E teacher.. i think he prob would too.. before refusing to marry us for being annoying and a bit of a rebellious pupil in his classroom!
