Its something we are not doing lol. Its basically where the bridal party and parents stand in a line and shake hands and great everyone into the room when they go for dinner. We are doing it so that the guests are seated then hubby and I walk in and sit down.

It isn't something you have to do so just tell them you would like to be announced into the room once everyone is seated. I think its a lot nicer way of doing it. We are not living in the dark ages anymore. People will clap as you walk in and make you feel special.

Think this is what we will be doing at our reception..we have a lil room where are guests walk through, we greet them, they go out the other side where their welcome drinks will be, then they can go out into the garden too :)

The point in having a greeting line is to welcome all your guests and give them a chance to congratulate you etc, saving you having to dash around in your evening party to greet people and thank them for being there, so you can have a more relaxed evening if you do a greeting line beforehand x

It is also a chance to meet anyone you havent already met, as at our wedding I hadnt already met some of Pauls family and friends due to them living far away and vice versa. We did it at our wedding as it is a traditional part of the ceremony we felt like including and it made me feel more at ease. xx

Oh now i'm all undecided ...again!

On one hand would be nice to be greeted into the room .
On the other hand I will have spoken to every person at our wedding.

Maybe greeting line and then make an entrance? lol

you can have the greeting line and still be able to make the grand entrance. It is a nice way to make sure you have met everyone at least once during the day but if you really dont want it just tell the wedding organiser! Anyway, as the bride you might have to kiss everyone never mind shake hands ha ha

We also did the entrance bit after the greeting line once the guests were seated, firstly the master of ceremony announced the top table into the room (except us at this point) and then we were announced into the room and led by our bagpiper playing towards our seats. xx

We're having a receiving line - it's just an announcement of the main people e.g. the top table usually before they announce the bride and groom! x

I wasn't sure what this was either. I've been to one wedding, they didn't do it at the reception, but what you have described, they did that straight after the ceremony in the church. The bride and groom walked down the isle and waited there while all the guests congratulated them one by one as walking out of the church. Then when all the guests were out they came out for the confetti throwing etc.

im undecided about this as i dont know half of rys family but he has met all mine that are going to be coming so hmm although it going to be nerve racking enough walking down aisle (dont like to be centre of attention lol) never mind having to be announced again as well lol although at same time it nice idea!! i'll just have to make sure i have enough make up on to cover up the blushing haha

H2B wants a meet and greet line, I'm not so sure, but it does eliminate having to go round and say hi to everyone at some point, I can just concentrate on having a good time
