Its official, I HATE table plans ... they are THE most stressful part of planning a wedding!
There are too many politics in families and not enough space to fit everyone in!
    ARGH!! xxx

You have 4 months Mara to be able to perfect yours, I Have 4 weeks :(
We're not having a traditional top table and highchairs take up a seat in our venue so thats another added pleasure of squeezing them in! xx

Oh no! Just breathe and at the end of the day, whilst you can avoid the major 'flash points' you cannot be responsible for everyone getting on together! Maybe you should have a 'naughty table' and put the worst offenders on there...in a seperate room! x

I did mine rather easily but putting guests into small groups. I then started to put the bigger groups onto the tables first and then put the couples in the gaps. Mine worked our really well first time so I was pleased. If I were you I would go by numbers rather than conflicts and practically sit them all down. If they can't behave for a couple of hours over dinner then they shouldn't be there. Explain to them its the only way they can sit down to eat with the people they came with and you would like them to be mature enough to put up with it.

I wish it were that easy guys :(
My mum and dad hate each other and need to be sat at seperate ends of the room.
H2B's parents are divorced and mil2b is bring her bf which fil2b isnt keen on and he doesnt have a significant other because he doesnt believe in step-families... old fashioned fart.
My 3 brothers are each saying a few words in place of my dads speech so need to be sat where everyone can see them..

times like this i wish i had a wedding planner to do it for me, at least then i could blame her if something went wrong! xx

You will get there MrsE2b honestly. We did ours just 10 days before the wedding once we had our definite final numbers in and yeah it was stressful but we got their in the end. Remember you cant please everyone about where they sit or who they sit next too. Just do what you think is best. xx

How about having a seperate room at the venue for those who can't behave? If they want to fight and fall out they can do it together away from everyone else. I can't belive some people can be so petty and selfish that they would let it ruin someone's wedding. I went to one a couple of years ago and I hated a lot of the people there but I just ignored them and kept my mouth shut for the sake of the bride.

My table plan is work in progress and lives on the coffee table at the moment so every time I walk past it I make adjustments! H2B reckoned we should just put numbers in a hat and everyone can just pull out a number and sit on a numbered seat! Would be easier! Think I am winning with mine now though.... just got to wait for last few RSVPs then I can finalise it.

I rather like the number out of a hat idea as it makes them talk to people they wouldn't normally talk to. Just not sure how some of them would feel if they ended up on a table full of strange kids lol.

I hope Ben is helping out in this organisation?! I haven't even thought about it all yet, but thankfully neither side know each other except for the parents and one auntie of mine who knows my h2bs parents. So I shall just mix them all up and hope it goes ok, lol. The only one that may have been a problem is my brother and h2b, but since Greg is going to be on the top table and Paul in with the other guests it shouldn't be a problem, fingers crossed anyway! Hope you get it sorted, but on a positive note.....4 weeks and you will be married to your sweetheart! :D x

I am not revealing the seating plan to anyone other than my mum and my H2B before the big day.

I am not letting anyone know where they are sitting. if they ask I will just say a) I havent done it yet or b) you'll find out on the day.

Our tables are of 6 and im putting 3 couples on each. And im keeping people to similar ages, but I know that there will be fussy people so Im just not telling anyone!!

They will sit where they are seated or leave!

i mean its only dinner, then everyone gets up to dance and mingle any way - doesnt last that long god!!!

i think i have.. wait for it... FINALLY done it!
After little man having a nap and me sitting on the floor with a million bits of paper with everyones names on i think i have managed to sort it. There is now formal suit or bm dress on each table so no arguements or these people will get beaten and told to stop being petty!
    Top table consists of,

BMan, H2b, Me, CBM and the 2 chaps that are doing the readings for us in church, along with their partners. SORTED!! xx

None of our families really get on, so along with the fact that we have 5 children and it would be very stressful, we have decided that we are not having a sit down meal or table plan, we are having a hogroast and salads for the afternoon meal, we have enough tables inside and out so people can sit/stand where they please. We are doing the speeches in the evening too. I know it probably sounds very informal but that's just how we want it. Xx

Can't wait to become Mrs Hardwicke. . .

I had this problem till i axed people i couldn't be dealing with from my guest list! hope you work something out and the way i did it was if you paired people or put them in small groups then tried to fit them on a space keeping in mind who they can and cannot sit with you usually manage to work out where to put them

If not try looking at how many people to a table and seeing where you can put two groups of people on 1 table who get along and fill them up that way! x

we are not having a standard top table at out uk ceremony......i didnt want parents sat there as neither set has done anything towards the weddingand i dont see why they be given a "moment of glory" so we are having the 6 of us that will be present at the wedding in america ...i am spliting people up and spreading both families around ..and you know what if the dont like where they are sitting for a free meal they can just leave
