I have dyed black hair and wanted to go back to my natural brown(ish) colour so I can re-think what colour I want my hair to be for the wedding but didn't want to use a pre-lightener. I found this stuff that is meant to revert your hair back to it's original colour and when you read the small print, it does explain that it will take your hair back to the lightest colour. We tried dying my hair this lovely caramel colour around new years but it just dyed the three inches of roots and the rest remained untouched. Anyway, we tried this remover stuff last night and the first 3 inches are a kind of coppery ginger colour and the rest is mahogony!!!! So we agreed last night that we would go to the supermarket to get some more dye again today and get it re-dyed before going to his mums this afternoon for tea. Woke up this morning and as it's his turn for a lay-in, I asked what time he wanted me to get him up, he said about 12ish so I reminded him that we needed to do something about my hair and he got shitty by saying "FINE!!! I will get up now!!" I said that was not what I meant and he said that he didn't want to go out at 3ish cos that was too late and we would not be spending much time out there (3hours!!!) so I told him fine, we won't bloody do my hair then, I will either just wear a hat the whole time I am there or not go at all!!!!
    Am I over-reacting??!!! xxx

I have the same attitude as you. If it was me I would go with my hair as it was then when his mum asked what the deal was with my hair, I'd tell her what happened lol.

OK I don't want to cause trouble here but I would say you are both over reacting. He obviously wanted a lie and you wanted your hair doing. He didn't get his lie in and you haven't had your hair done so your both in a bad mood. Taking it out on each other and getting even more angry isn't going to change the situation or make it any better. Take a deep breath and take steps to make the situation better. Can you not do your hair on your own? I used to dye my hair by myself.

Boo. Not a chance, he threw the car keys at me before storming out.
Jo. I agree. I probably could try it on my own or get a mate to come over and help me do it but the problem is, I cant drive and It's an hour and a half walk there and back to get it. xx

The bus doesn't run on sundays, can't afford a taxi and the only friends I got who drive live too far away to help me out!! :(
The thing is, I know we could do it and still have a reasonable amount of time at his mums but he turned his phone off when he stormed out so now I just have to sit here drumming my fingers until he gets back!!!! At this rate, we WON'T have time and his stubbornness will mean that we WON'T be able to go out his mums which is exactly what he DIDN'T want!!!! I would not be surprised if he had a drink while he was gone too which means that we would not be able to do any of it as he would not be able to drive!!! GGRRR!!!! xx

I know its frustrating but sometimes you have to be calm in situations like this. I know he isn't helping himself and he has made the situation worse by storming out and like you say now he won't get anything he wants but saying told you so or arguing will just make the situation worse. Two wrongs don't make a right so try and stay calm when he comes back and hopefully he will see just how silly he was and you can move on from there.

Could you not take the high ground rap your hair up in a scaff and go to his mums. maybe you could get the die on the way and then you can do it when you get back. I mean its only family they will understand!!

or is there a girlfriend who could go to the shop for/with you today and fetch the die?

I honestly would do that but the bus I need to get out to his mums does not run on sundays anymore and it's too far to walk with the kids. I COULD get a couple buses there if he has left any money in my purse. xx

Only you can make the choice of it you have enough money to last you etc. Do you need that money for something else? If its not going to impact other things then it really isn't worth it. If its just so you can get to the shops and get some more money out then go for it. At least that way its done and you will feel a little better.

Oh just leave your mobile on and a note in case he has cooled off and comes back. At least that way he can always pick you up and go to his mums etc.

cant you just leave it for a couple of days because colouring your hair in such quick sucession is not good for the hair and can cause it to get weak and break

trust me i had a hair disaster and went to robs mums for a weekend - i bought hair dye on the way back it was so embarassing everyone seeing it. I think you should dye your hair and go see them - it doesn't take that long especially if only your roots are the coppery colour!

    UPDATE!!!
I was waiting for Jo's reply when I got a text - it was a delivery report from a text I sent H2B just after he left so I called him and he had walked out to his mates who lives just down the road from his mums. We agreed that I will get the kids ready and get the bus out to his mums, he will meet me there and his mum can drop me and the kids home later while he went to pool. We also agreed that once I got there, I would leave the kids with him at his mums while I nip to Adsa which was a 10min walk from his mums and get some dye so he can do it for me tomorrow when our eldest is at school. (HE can do the school run, there is NO WAY IN HELL I am facing the school mums like this!!!) I put my hair up in a bun and put a hat on which covered most of it and took the kids off to MILs. We made up and I got the dye so everything is ok now. xxx
Lil Miss Sunshine, thanks for your concern but it was a colour remover, not a dye. I have not dyed my hair since the day before new years eve. xx

This is what it's like when we argue Jo. lol. My psychic said that we were a very passionate couple and I nearly blushed before she mentioned arguing!!! lol. She said that when we argue, we really go at each other which we do and the slightest thing gets blown up out of all proportion. One time we even had a row about HAMBURGERS!!!!! lol. xxx

Its something you both need to work on though or one day one of you will decide that its too much and will walk and not come back. Its petty arguments that can break up a relationship.

I know. The past year and half have been extremely stressful and we have gone through things that no-one should have to go through but it's pretty much all over now so we are starting to focus on our family and the wedding and each other. Our youngest has now started 3 full days a week at nursery so we use one of those days to focus on each other. We drop them off, come back, make bacon, eggs and bagels and a flask of tea then get back into our PJs and go back to bed where we stay til we gotta get up and get dressed again to pick them up. Bliss!!! lol. We are arguing much less now and I think it's because we are making that time for each other. xxx

I hate to say this but usually its just because the problems have gone away. The way you deal with situations hasn't changed which is why when you hit a problem like today it kicks off again.

Maybe some of the arguments are because your on top of each other all the time????

Myself and H2B used to argue a bit when we were constantly stuck in together, broke and with nothing to do. It was mostly bickering and was solved in no time but have found that if we both have some time apart other than work that we can spend with friends it does help too.

Also its someone else to rant to when problems are out of hand and you have someone else to bounce opinions on.

Thank you. We usually start to argue about the petty things and then it leads on to the big thing that is REALLY bugging him and then he storms off and sulks, comes back after a couple hours then we sit down and talk and resolve it with apologies and promises. That's the routine. lol. xx
