I havent spoken to my parents for 3 years so they are not invited! lol So instead of my dad giving me away...H2B's mum is! I get on with her so well and she is over the moon about it!! Anyone else keeping away from tradition?? x

Although I talk to my dad he's never really been there for me. If my grandad was still alive I'd have asked him to do it but in his absence I've asked my mum. I think breaking tradition has become the norm now xxx

my grandad is giving me away as my birth dad isnt invited to the wedding - he is also taking the place of the father in my 'father/daughter' dance.....i am also having a mother/ daughter dance as my mum really is my hero and i think she deserves it!

im having my dad (my stepdad but he brought me up since 2 and i always called him my dad) but i have been to a few weddings where the father hasnt walked the bride down the aisle, i think its lovely having someone who your especially close to if your not that close to your dad xx

My mums giving me away as my parents split up when i was 11 ish so my mum has always been there and she has been the one that has raised me also before my parents split up my dad worked offshore so i never seen him for 2 weeks at a time so when my h2b proposed i said i wanted my mum to give me away and he was happy about that as he had nener met my dad before but has now. When we came back from holiday where h2b proposed we went to my mums and told her we were getting married and i asked if she would give me away and she cried!!! It was so sweet and i really think this is the best way to say thank you to my mum for raising me and doing such a good job.

lol snap also she said shes gonna have to loose weight cos people will be looking at her walking down the ailse with me lol. She said she didnt want to do a speech cos shes kinda shy and would hate standing up in front of everyone so when i told my dad that i wanted my mum to give me away he was fine with it but i asked it he still wanted to do a speech but i understood if he didnt but he is so thats good

my mum was going on that she can't wear a dress / skirt cos her legs will look fat can't wear strappy top because her shoulders will look odd and she usually only wears black so she's in total panic mode, i told her she looks absolutely fine i'm the one who should be worried about looking dodgy next to her she's TINY in many many ways i just look like a blob stood next to her lol

None of my family are coming to mine except my brother but my son, who will be nearly 18 by then, will do it. It was just the 2 of us for 16 years so there isn't really anyone else who could do it really.

my brother is walking me down the aisle. both my dad and step dad will be at the wedding but i didnt want to ask 1 and upset the other so at first i asked my son (who will be 14) but he said no coz he doesnt like attention, so i asked my brother who at first was the same, but has said he will be honoured to give me away but doesnt want to do a speech.

i think it is common for someone other than your dad to give you away now.
my dad is giving me away. we werent that close as i was growing up but have got a lot closer as i have got older.
my brother is one of the most important people in my life and i would have had him do it if my dad wasnt around but he is just going to be an usher. xx

i was brought up by my step dad n mum but when they split i became close to my real dad. Theres no way i could choose which one of them give me away so both of them are doing it. Although when mentioned to my dad about it he got the hump. I dunno if he meant it if he did my son will be 8 by the time i get married so he will give me away

I will be inviting my dad but I don't want him to be the one too give me away as he barely knows me so how he'd manage a fob speech is beyond me. I was going to ask my grandad to give me away as he was like my stand in dad but before I could my mum said she's really like to do it so I'm happy with that she deserves it way more Then my dad does. It's hard enough trying to figure out where I'd seat him as I'm not inviting any other members from his side of the family.

My dad isnt giving me away either as we dont speak. H2bs best friend is giving me away. hes been like a father figure to h2b when he was going through alot of problems with drink. he is always there for us when we need him when we are having a tough time. xx

I have been married before although it was the biggest mistake ever and was a long time ago. anyway to the point lol My eldest son and I are so close and he will be 17 years old when I get married so I asked him if he would give me away. i havent spoken to my real dad for at least 5 yrs, so he doesnt even know that im getting married, if my grandad was still alive he would be giving me away (but he still is in a way as have his fav flower in my bouquet and will be having his name in the underlay of my dress, and my something old and borrowed is his backy tin lol ) so my step dad is giving me away, which he is som pleased about as he only has 2 sons so he will never get to do this xx

we are not sticking with tradition due to unfortunately losing my dad in an accident. Therefore my grandad will give me away but apparently it should be my dads brothers job,. However, my grandad on mums side has had such a much bigger involvement that I feel he should be the one.

mrsd2b just read your post about your dad... its hard on the days they go isnt it... dad passed on mums b.day. What you could do as well is have a picture of him in amongst all of your engagement shots and family pics on the table.
