And other such expressions. Went to see the most beautiful venue at the weekend; it's called Birtsmorton Court, located in Malvern. Absolutely perfect venue, amazingly enthusiastic wedding co-ordinator, both fell in love with the place ...
and today we got the quote. £10,000 for the venue, food & some drinks!! This is before we have even thought about flowers, entertainment, photographer, cake, dress, honeymoon.

This one may have to get filed under 'If we win the lottery'.

Has anyone else been through the same thing? Did you eventually find something that matched up? Please say yes!

Yes I did. I found a castle and thought that would be the one and it was a crazy price. In the end I found something even better which had everything we wanted. Just keep looking and you will find the one.

I have, I found a venue that we fell in love with had a beautiful barn but it came in at £9,500. And like you that was just the venue, food and drink. Just would never be able to do it.
So I went internet looking and found the venue we have now. Everything in the same room, beautiful venue, beautiful views and all for £4,000. Thats for the venue, food, drinks. The most expensive is the food.

I hope you find what your looking for x

We did hun and don't worry, you will find somewhere. We found the most stunning venue and were so close to booking it, even if it meant having a total budget of £25K!!! Neil's parents gave us £1000 and seeing that money in our hands made us realise we can do so much more with our money so we went searching. I'll be honest that it was tough as we were essentially comparing everything with the first venue but then we found Balbirnie House and our hearts melted. We've noe forgotten about the first venue and to be honest I am so glad we went with our heads. xxx

Thanks darling. The price is good for what it is and we are more than happy with the venue and staff. You will honestly find somewhere just as special as the first venue. xxx

Its amazing at how many places there are out there that have the look you are looking for without the big price tag. After all its just one day and you want some money in the bank for your married life. The venue isn't the be all and end of the day.

yep, I adored this place called West Tower in Ormskirk but when they told me it would cost £12,300 just for venue, food and drink, I nearly fell off the sofa! Definitely in the "if we win the lottery" category! We have a gorgeous venue now at a local hotel for about a quarter of the price and we already know the food is good cos we've been to the restaurant there a few times now! Don't give up elsie you'll find the perfect place. xx

Thanks, Jo, that's good advice to keep in mind. After we'd thought about it, it did sink in that we could buy a pretty good car for that money or have the holiday of a lifetime, buy a chunk of the house (get me a lot of shoes) and other ssensible things!
And, Gem, yep - definitely a falling off the sofa moment! Ha ha!

Wow, the venue we really want costs £2,500 for the ceremony and reception (room hire only) seems cheap in comparison!

Can't wait until the day I become Mrs. Johnson :)

YES !! saw some great venues at silly prices but after a lot of searching we are now finding venues that are loverly and within our budjet. If you have your heart set on this venue I would try and haggle or see if they have a low season price.

Claire do you really want to be paying off your wedding day for the rest of your marriage? You can get country house etc cheaper than that. I would rather spend less and get married sooner and not live my life in debt worrying about it all.

Yeah, my dream venue Queens House in Greenwich Park is £7,500+VAT and thats just the room hire. Its an amazing place and I've wanted my wedding there since I knew what weddings were lol, but I cant justify it, especially being a student for the next three years. But something fantastic and within budget will turn up for both of us, dont worry :) x

Get a list from the registrar of all the places you can get married at in the district and go through them one by one. There will be one there somewhere that isn't charging them prices. Also you could always get married in church and then find a really nice venue for the evening.

I'll try that idea out jo thanks, although h2b wont get married in a church because he said its the place you go to after you die/when other people die and so he doesn't like church's and its the same reason why he wont wear a black suit he said a wedding is of celebration so the outfits should not resemble funerals x

sadly for me no, but then i never actually went at looked at the venue that i though i would really love, but i just knew i wouldnt be able to afford it. So i suppose i didnt compare it. Im having my recpetion in a village hall but im happy as as long as i have my friends and family there, thats all that matters to me.
