I think people tend to send them with 4-6 months to go.

6 months before is on the early side but that's when I'm sending mine as most of my guests will have to travel a fair distance. I think it also depends on when you are having it, as to whether it's likely that people will need alot of notice to keep that day free, or book holiday etc.

Yeah, I think that sounds good! I haven't done a back up list as most of my day guests are family members and they have all said they will be there. Do you think I should do one just incase?.. If I put RVSP by september I will have plenty of time to invite a back up if I need to then

My save the dates are going out 12 months before, and then invites will go out about 6 - 4 months before...I have family coming from overseas so want to give them plenty of notice, most of them have already been unofficially informed to give them time to plan and save etc....

See my guests cant stay on site but if they ring up the local hotel and say they are attending a function at Ashton Court they should get a reduced rate so I need plenty of time for guests to do that as its only the local hotel that are doing reduced rate rooms and I don't want it to be fully booked and my guests having to travel even further and pay even more. They already have alot of travelling to do as my church is the other side of Bristol to my reception venue.. opps

most people send out save the dates 6-12 months before then the invites 3 months before rsvps back a month before.
although saying that we sent our invites out 6 months before to save money.

i'm getting married in september and am sending mine out in April - with rsvps due back at the end of July.

I am not sending save the date cards as i have only just got engaged and the wedding is just round the corner.
but what we have done is told everyone when it is, and given close family/friends details of hotels etc. so to be honest the invites will just be something pretty for people to have because everyone already knows all the details! lol!!

loads of people have already booked hotels etc.
I want to get the invites out asap.
And then maybe set up a blog or website with all the invite details incase anyone loses their invites and needs to look up anything again.

Check out a site called getting married .. you can set up your own wedding website there. I've been trying to do mine but I've given up, untill I know every single little detail I don't think I can do much with it.

my wedding is the 6th august, all our invitations have gone out, as wanted replies back early so that if there were any spaces for the actual ceremony we could pull in a few of the people that had just been invited to the night do. some people say to send them out a couple of months before the wedding but with it being holiday period, i didnt want to risk it as i am very impatient and very organised so want everything to be in place months before the wedding and not left until last minute :) x

That's what put us off Ashton Court as we have friends coming from far and wide that we wanted something easier in terms of where people stay, plus we have a gorgeous four poster suite for our wedding night. We booked Eastwood Park and they have to know all the details by the 23rd May as well as have all the payments by then so I am having to be very organised in terms of guest list and when I do send stuff out.

Just ordered my save the date cards so should get them soon :) xxx

Ashton Court has always been the place I wanted to get married, even as a kid. When Steve and I got engaged we went and had a look and he loved it just as much as I did but we said it wasnt practical as there isn't guest rooms so we kept looking, didn't find anything else we liked as much, apart from Leigh Court which also doesn't have rooms and was twice as expensive. We had a good think about it and decided to go with what we've always wanted, we had to travel to Portugal for his brothers wedding and there venue didn't have guest rooms either! And all his family travelled for it so I couldn't see how my venue not having rooms would be in a problem and it hasn't proved a problem yet. Redwood lodge is a 5 minute drive away and they are doing us reduced rate rooms so it works out fine just as long as the guests get rooms there! xx

We're doing everything by candle light and cant think of a better place to do that. I don't even care if other people are using the outside grounds or if the car park is full, its whats inside that counts and its going to look amazing. It isn't the most practical place to have your wedding but to me its beautiful xx

We're getting married on 6th August - and sending out the invites mid February, with RSVP by end of April. Because we're marrying at Gretna, we're going up there beginning of May to finalise numbers/payment for the reception so it gives the guests 2 1/2 months to reply and gives us plenty of time for arrangements.
