they have only gone and taken 3 of my shifts off me & given them to the new cook!!!
i knew my hours would drop slightly when the new cook started but going from 5 shifts to 2 is a p*ss take!! and the way i found out? oh my boss didnt tell me i had to find out via the bloody rota!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! apparently my cleanliness isnt to their HIGH standards (they have ocd when it comes to cleaning!) in the 4 months that i have been there i have only let them down once (nursery ringing me a hour before i was due to start work) i even worked when i was full of flu if that doesnt show commitment then i dont know what does!
so they can go get stuffed now i am going to look for a new job

Well everytime i asked for a contract they made excuses, i am meant to be contracted to 10 hours a week but even the new guy is meant to be contracted to 10 hours but he has more hours then me!

yeh definately geri....hope you told them you cant be expected to be able to pay for your wedding on a 10 hour week!!! they not worth ur devotion and like i said on the phone, now you have some experience it will be so much easier for you to get a better job where ur appreciated :)

Feels the need to head down to Nottingham and add a few additional ingredients (laxatives maybe!) to the new chefs chilli and lasagne.
On a serious note I do hope you find a new job soon and that its 100 times better than the one you have. Will keep my eye on jobs that are advertised online for you. xx

HB, keep the job you have but in the meantime search for something else, its always easier to get a job once you have one if you get what i mean. If they are not prepared to give you a contract then you have no stability anyway :(

also meant to say, that whilst working with flu etc shows dedication for you (not a bad thing) them allowing you to work while full of flu doesnt shout out any good points on their behalf. When i worked in a kitchen i was not allowed into work with any illness bugs etc due to health and hygiene, seems a bit hypocritical for them to allow you to work in that state then mention about cleanliness........so you would be better off finding an employer who is reliable, consistant and offers you more hours. Good luck.

i had this same problem with my job they kept saying they didnt have the extra hours but were taking on more staff and then i get told that i was oinly on a 4 hour contract which was bull as i had the printed version stating 8 hours and then when i said i would like more hours they said no because you might be having an op which wasnt even decided which totally unfair but since it took me nearly a year to find that job and although am still looking i hate it and would quit tomorrow if i could!!!
id stay there until you get yourelf a new better job and then screw them back if you havent got a contract then you dont even need to give them much notice (tho could be wrong id check first!)

I spoke to my boss yesterday because i was really upset & my boss admitted she was in the wrong in not discussing it with me first and she has said they will train me up more on the general assistant side so i can cover people's shifts who ring in ill or on holidays etc she said that i need to keep up with the cleanliness that i have acieved the standards they want (they have ocd about cleaning ) and that they will review it again in a few weeks time about my hours etc. she said that i get on fabulously with everyone at work, that i am reliable & have never let them down since being there in the 4 1/2 months that i have been there
i must admit i did feel a bit better after talking to my boss yesterday,
