Can anyone help please. Both the h2b and I will be the first to get married out of our siblings and friends so not really sure where to start when it comes to everything to do with a wedding. We have an appointment with the vicar next Saturday, are there certain things we need to ask?! Anything we need to take with us, any info we need?! Basically any advice would be so helpful.

Ours was very down to earth and didn't really ask us much. He basically had a laugh with us and asked about the kind of service we wanted. A few other girls will be able to help you more as they'll have been asked more questions than I was. Don't worry though, they're not there to judge your relationship. xxx

I'll be following this thread as im not sure what to expect when we see the vicar. I've yet to get an appointment with the vicar as we seem to be crossing paths and just leaving answerphone messages.

Oooh, we're meeting ours next Saturday too! We're a little more worried though because Steve is divorced and we know that essentially the decision to allow us to marry in church lies entirely with the vicar :S
Now, finally, Mrs Riley
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words

When we had hour first meeting with our vicar she just asked us what sort of service we wanted. Things we had to include in the service, talked about having our Banns read, filled in the legal form to say we want to get married. She gave us lots of tips and advice on ways to save money which I thought was lovely. And then we just had an informal chat and she asked us a few questions, ie what we did for a living, how long we had been together. And that was about it really.
Again we just filled out the legal stuff, talked about bann readings, got a date for rehearsal, there was no interrigation at all which i was expecting. xx
Is now happily married to my gorgeous man

I haven't even met my vicar yet, i'm worried i'm not doing something right, we've had our banns certificate made out, but that was by the parish administrator :S

You dont need to take anything with you on the first meeting, its just a general chat about the banns etc and then you discuss the date you want. The vicar will then tell you what happens next. Its all really exciting and nothing to worry about. It will be really exciting! x
Very very happy as Mrs Erica Trow
I feel like the luckiest girl in the world! xx

our vicar has just left, he was really nice put us both at ease, he went through the order of service with us, mentioned hymns, telling us what to expect, he said he cant say no you cant get married, when you go to the registra to have your banns read they can say yes or no, dont be nervous, enjoy the experience :) xx

ours was really nice, had a general chat and filled out a form name, dob, address, occupation and dads/parents details cant remember if he did both ..etc. Also if you are christned. Htb isnt so he is bein baptised there this easter. Also we dont live in the same parish as the church so if you dont you will need to go to services there for so many weeks before you get married ther. But as htb is being baptised ther we wont need to do that as it qualifys him to get married there. That probably is different for each church and parish x
