Need advice please or suggestions.. As I am an older bride ( second marraige) I found the style of dress I love which my aunt will make for me. It's 1950s style. Also am going to vamp it up with a birdcage wedding veil and gloves not unlike some of the dresses my mum wore back then... The shape of the dress and the colour ( dusty duchess satin pink with cherise pink backing) really flatters my skin tone, hair colouring and enchances my figure ( which is a fuller figure) even with all the weight loss I am still well endowed. My sis who is 52 is going to be my maid of honour and we bandied about what sort of dress she should wear. She came up with the idea of wearing a 1950s fitted suit, with all accessories, I love this idea but what do you think???? Ideas welcome...

Did you see the episode of celebrity 4 weddings with Sandra Dickinson in it? She's in her 60's and had the most adorable dress in beautiful lace. Whilst it's not my cup of tea, she looked fantastic in it and really set a beautiful scene for the day. I thought it was a shame that the theme wasn't carried through so really love your idea of making a theme of it! x

Yes Heather I did see it... She looked stunning... As an older bride and only 5'3 I wanted something which wouldn't look ridiculous... Mind you me and a few girlfriends went to the bridal shops ... It was a hoot nothing they had suited me, made me look like mutton... We are having a very small intimate wedding although and we have gone for a Glenn Millar type band.... As our wedding is quite small only 50 coming we weren't sure . In the end it was my mum who convinced me to go for it.... Lewis my H2B is going to wear a pinstriped suit and fedora hat....
