We are having a civil in a hotel too but are having an 'order of the day instead so people know whats going on throughout the day and when
To be honest I dont think you need one for a civil service as nobody takes part in it except you two (in church people sing the hymes so need the words) but i like the idea of them as a keepsake hehehe But its really up to you babe

I'm with Hails on this. We are having a civil ceremony at a country house and are just having an order of the day so that people can see how long the service is and that 2 readings will take place during it with a rough timing so people know when they will be having dinner and drinks etc.
Hope this helps :) xxx

We won't be having an order of service now that we have changed from a church to civil ceremony, it is such a short service with maybe a reading, not sure yet, and then straight on to reception. Going to be a summery laid back affair and I am glad of it, I would have forgotten something like OOS anyway, lol. Just got to do what is right for you and h2b at the end of the day. x

I'm not sure what to do as we are having a civil and blessing. I was wondering if it would be worth doing one booklet for the whole day with order of service for the civil followed by the order of the blessing and what else is going to be going on throughout the day. The only thing I'm worried about is if people will then leave them in the civil room and not take them with them when they walk over the lawn to the church.

I think when you have that much going on during your day it would be a good idea to have something so the guests know where to go and what is happening next. You can ask your registrar to mention to take them with them after your service is over if you are worried they would leave them, though personally I always keep them as a memento, is that weird? lol

I had assumed we would have an OOS but actually after having read this thread I don't think I will. A civivl ceremony is so short and no one other than those involved need to know exactly what's going to happen. One less thing to worry about. Cheers girls.x

We're having order of the day instead, which will include the order of service. Or you could have one written and put it on a stand at the entrance so people can glance at it on their way in...

we decided to just make one up and put it in the entrance hallway for people to look at if they want to ... the ceremony and reception are at a small hotel, and the ceremony is so short with no readings, but the rose ceremony at the end :) - good idea about doing the order of the day though - may consider that instead lol
