we are paying a member of the church who does all the flowers then the church keep them for the sunday service, after that they get given to local elderly or sick people so we dont mind
21st October 2011 will be the best day of my life!!!
Most churches have their own florist that can work out pretty cost effective but I would say if you are going to have flowers in the church have them on stands that can be moved and placed in your venue after if you are coughing up the full price of them. Sometimes the church will do you a deal and you can just chip in towards the costs of the flowers they do each week anyway and they will do them to your colour scheme for that week. Each if different though so you are best to ask. Personally I think churches are pretty as they are and you can add something personal like pew bows which work out pretty cheap. Remember you are only in there for about 40 mins so you don't want to blow your budget on something that isn't going to make much of a difference. After all everyone will be too busy looking at you!

Our church flower ladies did the flowers (Very nervously as ours was their first wedding since the previous lady passed on suddenly) and they were brilliant! We put bows on the pews for a bit more colour.
Now a extremely happy German housewife and now a Mother!!!!

We are just gonna have bows on the end of the pews. The church always has nice flower arrangements in it anyway so didnt see the point of paying for extra.
I am now Mrs Stacey Stiles and loving it!

Why not ask if there are any other weddings that day and ask the father if he would contact them about both paying 50% of the flowers? could save you a bit of money but the colours would have to be neutral unless you both had same colour scheme lol

Ours is quite a modern church so we don't have pews but chairs instead. I have got some lovely heart decorations to go on the front row of each side where special people sit but then might put some simple bows on the others chairs haven't decided yet. I am also taking the flower decorations from the church to the reception to cut costs!

I think that most people are, but some people do use the churches decorations particularlly during a special time of year.

We are going to decorate the end of the pews with white bows and have a foral arrangement at the top of the church.

As it is going to be lent we can't have flowers in the church but, the florist in the church is going to put pretty tea lights by all the windows in tea light stands so I can have them lit on the weddind day. We'll have bows on the pew ends too. x
CommentAuthorStevie_Dee
We were wondering whether to decorate but we are getting married during the churches christmas tree festival, so they will have around 50-60 decorated xmas trees in from groups like scouts and guides etc... so hoping we wont need much else. We would like the pew bows though. xxx

Steve's mum was going to sort the flowers for us, but we were told today that to bring in our own flowers there was a fee of £60 - so we've scrapped that idea! Probably going to see what the church's own flower lady says, but if it works out too expensive we might just look into bows for the pew ends, which is what we originally wanted before MIL offered to sort the flowers!
Now, finally, Mrs Riley
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words

I don't think we are going to bother with church flowers. Our church is quite small and is very pretty, I don't want to overdo it but putting extra things in there. I like the idea of the tea lights though Jen, may have to borrow that idea!

when i first asked how much the church was they said 699 plus 85 fee if your videoing the ceremony then when i went 2 see the vicar, they changed it 2 a basic package for 464 and then optional extras like organ, organist, choir, flowers
