Hi Ladies, just wondering if there are any Birmingham B2B's? I have no idea where to start and if any of you know of any useful stores for any bits n bobs it would be great to have a pointer in the right direction! Thanks xx

Hey I'm not far from Birmingham. I live near Atherstone but as the h2b's family are from Birmingham we go over that way a lot. What kind of things were you looking for and what things do you need to know?

I'm making my invites and got all the stuff to make them from ebay. My dress I got from a shop in Atherstone but there are loads around. Its just a case of go and try on in different shops and then once you have found your dress ring around all the shops in the area that stock that dress and see who will be the cheapest. Don't forget fitting costs as well as the dress. I rang around shops once I have found my dress and saved over £200 but if you have a more expensive dress there are bigger savings to be made just by making a few phone calls.

I'm also making my own cake. It depends on what you want to how much they cost. I do have a couple of friends that make wedding cakes so I could ask them how much it would cost to have one made once you know what you want.

The h2b decided that he wanted to buy the suits rather than hire so I'm making the most of my student discount. If you find any suit hire companies that accept student discount then if you wanted I could always pop over and give them my card so you get 10% off. We found some really nice suits in Matalan and Burtons and I also get 10% discount there!

What kind of cars were you looking for? We got ours from Nuneaton wedding studios. They have 8 different Rolls Royce cars which go up to £350. They are chauffeur driven but if your h2b wanted to drive then it can work out cheaper to get cars from Great Escape car hire in the cotswolds. You could always get your dad to drive the car for you. I have booked a surprise Jag for the h2b to go to the venue in and it was cheaper and he gets it for a couple of days. Prices start from £165 for 24 hours and then they give you a discount for further days. They have a choice of vintage cars to pick from.

Where abouts have you decided to get married? We are getting married at Bosworth hall.

Wow lol thanks for that I'm looking at ideas for cakes but don't know if I Wana design sumth original prob there is I can't draw lol. Yea h2b wants to buy his suit too. My sis wants us to go dress shopping but I'm a bit nervous about that really Wana loose a few st. Every1 keeps saying u've not long had a baby but she's 9mths now n I'm still huge lol. No idea about what sorta car h2b wants a jag but I don't know.

We are getting married in Jamaica. So honeymoon n wedding all in 1. The invites are prob the easiest as I made our daughters christening invites but want sumth really classy so it can b kept in n album.

It is really easy to make classy looking invites on a budget. I'm using personalised ribbon which has our names and date of the wedding. I'm then adding a punched butterfly to it and we have the peel off stickers for the thank you, invites etc. It means I can make it all to match for the order of service and even table numbers, favours and seating plan. I've seen some cute little pearl hearts which you can use the thread through ribbon which makes for classy looking invites and they are really cheap on ebay. I'll post you some of the links to show you what you can do. As long as you have a printer then the inserts are really easy to do and it means that once you have your template set up that you can change the guests names on each one so you don't have to hand write them all out.

Don't worry about going dress shopping. I'm a size 18 now after having a car accident. I was worried about going to try on dresses but had a really good time. I managed to find my dream dress but I'm not going to order it until Feb when I go to get measured. You can lose up to two dress sizes realistically from when you order it but never order one smaller than you are now just in case anything happens and you can't get the weight off. Don't be hard onyouself though and make sure you enjoy the experience. If when you are looking in the shops for suits they do student discount then give me a shout! I know Matalan, Burtons, Greenwoods etc all do it.

The Jag I booked for my h2b is £225 for 24 hours or £395 for 48 hours then £150 for each day afterwards. I think that is pretty good going to say most wedding cars are around the £300 mark for a couple of hours hire.

Well my maid of honour used this hen night company for her hen weekend. When I went on their website to get some ideas this is the one that jumped out at me. London would be easier but I wanted to go somewhere different. Plus the package we got at the price we got is really good. I dont think we would get it for that price anywhere in london.

I don't blame you. Can you post the details of the company you used on my wall please. I may use it myself. I haven't actually even thought about what to do for a hen night yet. What kind of things have they set up for you to do there?

Thanks for that I will price it up and see if it works out within what people are willing to pay. I was thinking about a pamper spa day as that suits all ages. I wonder if you can book them direct to save the commission from the company?

Yeah its not a cheap place. It makes you wonder how they can sell the hen deals off so cheaply. Its like if my guests book a room in our venue its more expensive booked direct than if they book it online. How strange!

Thanks for all that Jo. I know what I'm spending my days off this week doing lol. H2B is very excited about the car lol so I've proposed that can be his lil project. We can't actually book the wedding until April as the flights aren't released til then so want to budget all the other things before then. We have an eye on our venue for our reception when we get back but can't book that til we know when we are going n coming back. I feel stuck at the moment so that's why I want to get all those other tasks under way. Seen loads of beautiful cakes n have a few ideas in mind just need to c if I can get it down on paper. I have a strange feeling next year is going to fly by, this one has since we had our daughter in feb. Will leave my dress 4 a while but need to decide on my colour scheme keep seeing nice baby dresses for our lil girl n then I keep changing my mind.

The hen do idea sounds fab could u send me the link aswell plz! xx

I was the same until we booked our venue. Until you can set a date there is very little you can do. In the mean time though I would look at things like favours if you plan to have a meal when you get back, invite designs, entertainment etc etc. At least then you will know what you want so can book it as soon as you have the date set. I keep buying all the small stuff over the months so everything is ready for the day. Your right though the time soon goes by so don't be fooled into thinking everything can wait for forever. Make the most of the January sales and remember that xmas decorations can double up as dressings for the wedding too. There are so many colours out there now I'm sure once you set yourself a colour scheme you will find things in the sales. I got my flower girls head band and other accessories in the bhs sale a while back so saved myself loads. I also go my shoes in a Barrets sale.

I've always got items watched in my ebay account. I find most sellers re-list them if they are shops so if you save the watched you can find it later down the line when you have the money to get what you want. Mrs H2b have you seen the brimingham meet up post?
