It seems everything is falling into place gardually exceot the transport. These are the things I have to consider:

    1) Budget (fairly low)
    2) 40 guests
    3) Nowhere to park at the reception

    These are the idea(s)
    1) Guests arrive at Mum's and everyone gets "shipped" to registry and then dropped off at reception
    2) Guests find their own way there and sort out parking etc (not favourable)
    3) Myself and Dad hire a chauffer to get there and all of us get taken back in something like a red bus?
    4) I get my boss to chauffer with his nice car - potentially for not alot, if he's feeling generous.

Any more ideas as I'm stuck! Thanks! xx

id say most people would be expeting to make their own way to registry anyway? then you could bus them to ur reception? I like your idea of a red bus :) x

yeah the red bus idea sounds ok, we are having a coach to take the guests from ceremony to reception venue

Guests make their own way there. That isn't up to you to sort out hun.
Our reception has no parking either and the church is quite a distance from where the reception is being held. My guests are aware of this and will sort their own transport if I provide the maps. (They're from Derby, the wedding is in Cardiff)
The only people I am arranging transport for is me & h2b. My bridesmaids are also sorting their own.

I was toying with the idea of having people arrive at mine then getting one of my brothers to organise a walking bus....venue has now changed.

Can you talk to local taxi rank?? See if you can organise a good deal from your mums to the ceremony and then on to the reception??

Also people only used to hire cars as no-one had them, now everyone has them and most people have something decent, we are using H2b's dad's car for a trip out after ceremony. H2b doesn't know where yet (going to the place he proposed) and h2b dad doesn't know coz he can't keep a secret :)

    I'm now a married woman
    I have a gorgeous husband
    Whats to do now
Theres no more wedding planning to do

I expect everyone to get to the church and then we will put on a bus from church to hotel for reception. I am expecting most people to drive to reception though as they will probably stay over.

Sorting transport for the wedding party is becoming a bit of a shift though as the few cars I like are already booked!! xx

Thanks for your input. The taxi idea is worth investigating further!

Can always rely on all your guys for valuable input.

I would say they should make their own way to both and sort out their own parking just worry about you and your own party

Im with Emsy - most weddings I have been to I have had to sort out my own travel to and from ceremony and reception (although I usually end up the taxi as I dont drive and have a people carrier!)

Best thing that I find is normally when I receive an invite, the more "helpful" brides have put in litle maps of the venues with nearest car parks, taxi ranks, taxi numbers, bus stops, trains stations.

Id say providing this much information is over and above your call of duty - put those extra pennies towards something for you xxx

Working on a 3 dream plan for the next 5 years!
    Dream 1 = My gorgeous Mr P proposed - 4/9/11 Sydney Harbour
Dream 2 = Getting Married Easter 2012 by Bonnie Loch Lomond
Dream 3 = Working on that dream life in Australia

My current plan is... get them to carpool (the ones with cars) or hop on the public bus. I think that'll be a bit, unique and different and it goes from A to B.

My h2b is a bus driver for a large firm. They have said he can have one of the double deckers to transport guests to venue after the church. Not as grand as we wanted but for free and practicalities it makes sense. Its only a journey and we can spend the money on something else. Do you know any bus drivers who might be able to get u some sort of mega discount? x
