I have always wanted to get married in a beautiful old church, really traditional with some land around it to take nice pictures. I was bought up C of E but my partner is Catholic and the only thing he wants on the wedding day is to get married in a Catholic church. We both had our hearts set on Eastnor Castle for the reception but the only really beautiful churches I could find around there are C of E. So I have started looking anywhere around the Midlands (we are from Birmingham) and I can't find any that I like! (I know I'm ridiculously picky!) My ideal church is Tewkesbury Abbey, its amazing and ticks all the boxes apart from being Catholic which is really frustrating. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any churches that fit what I want up to about an hours drive from Birmingham??
-Obviously Catholic -Really old (I hate the 70's churches, it needs to be traditional) -Have some grounds where you can have photos (not in-between shops or houses or on a main road, somewhere set back) -No modern interior either
Would really appreciate some help on this one. Thanks, Natasha xxx

Most of the beautiful old ones were taken over by c of e in the reformation which is why many catholic churches are newer in design.
Also many will only marry you if you live in the parish or have a family connection so could be a difficult task..... good luck though x

I have found a website that has a list of catholic churches in my area Em so just having a check now.
That explains why when I read up on Tewkesbury Abbey it said it was Catholic and then when I got there it was C of E lol. Thanks for the luck... not having too much at the moment! x

I've heard its actually a lot harder to get married in a Catholic church- I think you first actually have to see your H2Bs parish priest, because you need his permission.

I was gonna say the same as dove. I dont think you can just get married in any catholic church, you have to attend there regular I think and have a connection to the church. I think catholic is alot stricter then C of E.
I am now Mrs Stacey Stiles and loving it!

my dad is a verger and the c of e guidelines imply that one of you needs to have a connection to the church, which can be; a parent or grandparent married there, you live in the diocese, you were christened or confirmed there or attended for 6 months
good luck though

Have you thought of somewhere with a chapel, (like grafton manor, bromsgrove) and inviting a catholic priest to reside?
