Wedding Forum - SUPPORT YOUR MODERATORS...

I had quite a few complaints emailed to me yesterday with regards to the moderators trying to police the site. Including complaints from moderators too. There were too many posts for me to read through all of them, but what I could see demonstrated that the Mods were 'trying' to keep things in order and 'trying' to be diplomatic, even though I could see that their frustration was being voiced through the forum. But in the same position I think I would be far less diplomatic.

First of all I want to make clear that the Moderators were voted for by the members. The moderators do their 'job' free of charge. They go no more than a big thank you from UKbride. Policing so many members is a difficult job and there are bound to flair ups.

Ukbride will not tolerate abusive comments made to its Moderators or any other members of UKbride. Everyone should read through the rules carefully to refresh themselves of all forum rules. From now on any unreasonable abusive comments made towards Moderators will have their accounts deleted without notice with a permanent ban from the site.

Advertising on the forum or blatant advertising on members walls is also not tolerated.

Nicpep is so hurt and upset by comments thrown at her yesterday that she has said that she wishes to back down as moderator and leave the site. Nic has been with us from the start and in her own words was far more popular before she became a moderator. This just isn't right.

UKbride is a friendly wedding website. Non related wedding talk is acceptable so long as it doesn't spiral out of control. Please do not share the news that your dog coughed today! If a moderator then explains to you that this isn't really what we want to read on the forum and you then hurl abuse back, the moderators will inform me and if I can see that the comments are abusive I will delete the account, without notice. Your email address and computer will then be blocked by the site.

Policing 20 girls in an office is tough (I know because it's what I do), policing 160,000 members must be an incredibly difficult job. Nobody likes being told that they can't do something or being 'told off', but it is the moderators job to ensure that the rules aren't breached for the benefit of all members and clients of UKbride.

There will always being people trying to find loop holes in the rules, or bending the rules to suit. BUT this is a friendly wedding website not a Government run organisation.

If you choose to use the forum you will come across opinions that you may not agree with or people who you may not get on with, but to use the UKbride Forum you MUST get on with everyone on the site. Rude, nasty, offensive, homophobic, sexism, ageism, racism and general impolite posts will be deleted and members breaking this rule will be blocked from using the site!

I have to agree it must be hard. 160,000 women. Us ladies can be hormonal and emotional so we're bound to get tetchy but i've never "had a go" at a moderator, if i've had a complaint I (hope i have) dealt with it in a mature manner, i dont see the need to put them down :(

Look at it this way if you "hate" the mods for doing their job A- get over it its what they're there for and B- they're only doing what J says so blame J :P

the thing is when your getting abuse hurled at you for following the rules on a daily basis it kind of detracts for the reason you started doing the job in the first place.people should accept the rules and thats it,im still considering my role here after yesterday as quite frankly i was desgusted

Im really not that scary.

Im actually very approachable, but i guess that my straight-to-the-point-no bs-aura is scarier than i thought.

Im exactly the same in RL as i am on here. Everything i say and do i would say and do normally. If i don't like it - i'll say so. I i love it - i'll say so, and you'll always get an honest answer or opinion from me like it or not.

But im also a very fair person. I do not suffer fools and i will help folk who need it or ask for it.

Belive it or not I do have a degree of diplomacy and tact - i would hate to think i had unintentionally upset anyone , and would do my utmost to try and put it right if i did

The reason i've posted this is because i have never had any abuse/complaints or experienced any of the things that were brought up yesterday - i feel it MAY be because some of you think im unapproachable or scary - and im kinda out of the loop on this one and not really sure whats going on.

Ive had a few pm's asking for help or telling me about something that needs a mods attention but never any abuse

I think all the mods do a great job, especially with so many brides-to be in the mix. I keep to myself most of the time on here and tend to read more comments that i do of making comments or starting threadds. All the ladies who use this site are all great for the help and advice they give out. I can honestly say without some of the advice i've read on here i would never have even contemplated them (ie gifts for bridal party etc)
Am hoping that this will all simmer down again though, i read the comments yesterday and woah talk about a headache for you guys, am so glad i dont have to deal with the responsibilty of all us cooky brides and making sure it runs smoothly :)

I think people forget that the mods are not employees of UKB, they are normal members that volunteer to assist. And in the main, it's to assist J in preventing advertising, not to sort out disputes. We're grown-ups, we should be able to do that ourselves.

Also, being a mod does not mean you're not allowed to have an opinion. Nor does it mean they will agree with everything every member says. They have the same rights to say how they feel.

Goff - I for one know you're not scary in the least. I love the fact you're so honest and to the point and you won't take cr@p from anyone. People like you are few and far between and ought to be cherished for being so straightforward :) I think the only people that could construe you as anything other than sheer fabulousness are those who want to be told what they want to hear, not the truth as it is. It was like any situation in life - a difference of opinions and the less mature of the group spat their dummies and went on a loony ranting rampage. All came from something of nothing and we ended up with some hurt feelings :(

I think what we are trying to say is there are threads on here for non wedding talk. Not a problem. There's even a general chin wag.

It's new threads for example 'I ate an apple today' which was the main issue.

I think we are just asking for moderation!

I give all the mods my support. I read the thread back last night, and its all so upsetting. The girls try and do their best for us, so its a pleasant place to hang out, they dont need the hassle of people being rude to them.

I would just like to say that I'm sorry that Nic has stood down. she was the original Mod. You girls do a wonderful job.

I saw the post yesterday but also saw it was heading to an arguement and didn't want to get involved, so I just stayed away.
