It may sound stupid but I have had the most awful feeling, now I am stressing that my dress zip might break on the morning of the wedding or if I have lost some weight due to stress it wont fit right! I love my dress and for those of you who haven't seen in my photo album, I bought a ex display dress and I am having some pretty major alterations done on it including removal of tulle, adding of tulle and lace appliqués....the list goes on! The dress maker has been brilliant she has done an amazing job so far and I get to see my dress again in a month. She has already taken in the sides twice at my waist I have now been hearing a few horror stories about zip fastenings on wedding dresses (there are buttons as well) breaking just before the wedding due to zips not being strong enough?! Yes I actually heard this from a photographer! But also I am not planning on loosing weight before the big day just a bit of toning up but in the past when I have been really stressed I tend to eat substantially less! Its making me think should I have got the dress maker to change from a zip to lace back? Or am I just being silly!????? xx

I wouldnt worry - just make sure whoever puts you in your dress and has the job of zipping it up is super careful.

I had a zip up dress for my first wedding and it was fine, my sister totally altered it the year after for her wedding and she put on weight a couple of weeks before the wedding and i nearly couldn't zip it up on the day but it didn't pop lol, i think the zip on wedding dresses are very strong and you have nothing to worry about. ;-) x

I had a zip dress, and got my final alterations done 2 weeks before the wedding, so if you want to drop some weight then you can do the same and know it'll fit fine on the day x

If you are having buttons aswell as a zip, then dont even worry about it, if the zip DID break, the buttons will hold the dress closed anyway. I believe that the wedding dress zips are stronger than normal zips anyway, not the other way around.
