    Hi Ladies,

I'm new to UKBride and a recent email from them has prompted me to get in touch with this forum, which sounds likes it's filled with great ideas, and see if I can pick your brains!

My fiance and I would like to go for a venue in Yorkshire (preferably West/North Yorkshire, but open to other suggestions) where we can hire out the accommodation for a weekend, e.g Friday - Sunday/Monday for our guests to stay, which has space in the gardens for a marquee. If the venue was licensed for marriage this would be great, but not essential.

We've looked into glamping/camping, but don't think that will work for some of the older guests. So we're thinking more along the lines of venue consisting of a number of cottages, or a large house that can be hired out. Any ideas are welcome...I'm expecting, from looking at other discussions on here, that i'll get quite a few!

    Thanks very much!

    Sandra

I don't know if it has all the facilities that you're looking for, but they do have a website - but have you tried Hazelwood Castle between Leeds and York? I've not been to a wedding there bit visited years ago and it's a gorgeous place.

Is mansfield in nottinghamshire to far out? There is a beautiful place there but not self catering im afraid. You may struggle to find a venue like that. Xx

We are getting married at a place in York, this August we have hired 4 out of a possible 5 cottages. We are staying there from the Thursday to Sunday with about 25 other people. It is self catering but you do need to hire the bar, however we are able to provide our own welcome drinks, table wine and the toast, without being charged corkage. We actually looked into doing the food ourselves but we went to the local farm shop/catering company literally 2 mins away and her food/prices were amazing. We are having canapes, afternoon tea (with loads of extras to cake and sandwiches), BBQ evening meal and breakfast for 35 people the next day for just over £1,500. It has a large lawn for putting a marquee on, but we are actually attaching 3 marquees to each side of 3 the connecting cottages. We just fell in love with it when we visited it was just what we wanted. I've got some pictures on my profile of our venue let me know if you want the website. xx
