So I've now been in my job for 6 months and hubby and I agreed that we would hold off trying for a baby until I've been there a year. I mentioned this morning to hubby that it's 6 months till I come off the pill and start trying and he didnt get shirty or snappy about it and just like.... happily agreed. :oD So I'm on a health drive now for the next 6 months to make sure I am fit and healthy for when the time comes!

:-) that is good news :-) hopefully you won't have to try for too long :-) and this time next year you could be pregnant :-)

Would you like to have a boy or a girl? Do you want just one child or are you thinking of having more after that?

Start taking folic acid as soon as you can. Those pregnacare tablets you can get in the supermarkets and b o o t s are good but if I was you I would talk to the doctor and ask if you should be on prescription folic acid too.

I wouldn't let his age worry me, I know loads of men who became dads well into their 40's and my H2B's dad was 39 when H2B was born and he often says he loves the fact that his dad was the age he was and they are really close even now.

We are already talking about having a second child, he is undecided whether we should wait a little or start trying three months after the birth of this little one. The reason being I don't want a big gap between children if I have another. I grew up with brothers and we were all born relatively close together. H2B is ten years younger than his sister, 12 years younger than his brother and about 16 years younger than his eldest sister and he grew up as an only child more or less so he wants them close together too. Lol having said that we might just end up sticking with one as well :-)

Don't put too much pressure on yourself the more you plan and think about it the longer it will take. We tried for a few months and nothing decided to stop trying and bang that month i was pregnant. I took pregnacare and just ate properly and stayed fit. The fitter you are the easier you'l find it to carry a baby x

I agree Georgie, stress over conceiving can have a major effect, just go with the flow and it will happen. Oh and MrsWright don't be tempted to test early as a lot of women do because this is generally just a waste of money plus if you test too early and it shows up negative you could get pretty upset yet you could in fact have just had a false negative.

If you drink loads of caffeine I would say its best to try and cut it down from this point in time as I've had to really keep an eye on how much cola and lemonade etc I drink. And if you smoke I would also suggest giving it up asap as smoking can have an effect on fertility.

I don't snoke and tbh I lead quite a healthy life in general - lots of homecooked food etc. I need to get fitter, slimmer (I am 5ft tall and apparently 4lbs over the recommended weight even though Im a size 10) and cut back on the booze.

Some women say they still drink during pregnancy etc and it doesn't do any harm but I completely disagree as drink was prescribed up until 30 years ago or so by doctors only because of it's Iron content. As iron tablets and as the placenta can't filter out alcohol I think its best to give it up when you start trying to conceive. You can still drink up to that point.

If you are only 4 pounds over what you should be for your height don't worry about that. I was 3 stone over my weight limit and I've had to keep a really close eye on my weight but I haven't experienced any issues and I have kept my cravings under control most of the time. 4 pounds is nothing and you will find at the first consultation they will look over that. Remember that stressing over not being able to lose that 4 pounds might have a reverse effect on your fertility so just don't focus on it :-) besides you should expect to gain weight as the pregnancy progresses anyway.
