One of the reasons we want to go away and get married on our own (other than pain in bottom mil2b) is because of the cost. We're trying to save for a house and as this is important to me because i want everything to be more stable for my 2 boys i said to my h2b we would do a cheap wedding.

However....... my h2b used to work for an estate who happen to do weddings! Its AMAZING its every girls dream venue except the price tag!!
Little did i know my h2b had been devious!! He hadn't really commited to any of the places i found to get married and kept saying we'l go look and decide then, theres no rush love! Well i thought he was just being a pain and not wanting to actually go through with it!
I had an email this morning from the estate which confused the hell out of me as it said - with regards to your recent enquiry!
As he used to work there and the manager is still the same they have offered us a HUGE reduction in cost and an even bigge reduction if we have a week day.
To pay for it even with the reduction it would mean having to move our date to the end of 2013 or 2014, which seems sooooooo far away but its the perfect place.
And not too far from mil2b (previous thread)
Why do men confuse the situation lol xx

It depends what you really want hun. If it is your dream venue and everything you ever wanted then I would wait, if you just want to be married and want it simple with just the two of you then stick with your current plans. Sit down with H2B and chat about what you really want from the wedding and go from there.

For me having now set the date I'm not sure I could change, I so desperately want to be married now and even if there was some massive problem that meant we couldn't do it how we've planned I'd probably still go down the registry office and get the deed done just to be married to my man.

You have to do whats right for you, for your special day! and if this the dream venue then whats the worry of holding off for a couple more months? Your timeline says 14 months so thats what end of next year anyway?
I love that your OH has gone and done this though, thats really thoughtful!

You say its every girls dream venue...... is it yours? x

Thats my thinking we'd probably move it from Nov 2013 to Feb 2014 so thats nothing really.
Oh yes its perfect everyone i know whos has been married or getting married wants this venue but its really expensive.
It also means a lot that h2b has been looking at this - he obviously does listen!

personally i would go for it, 3 months is not really that long in the scheme of things.

and good on your OH. he obviously wants you to have your dream day

If thats all it is, just 3 months for your dream day, where you can share with everyone (inc your mil2b!!) & have a party all for a lower cost then I'd go for it.

Just weigh up the pros/cons and more importantly how much would it cost for the 2 of you to marry abroad, then come back and pay for a party for everyone...then how much would it cost for it all to happen on the one day at this beautiful venue (which btw im intrigued to find out about and see pics, as im sure other ladies are hehe).
You said you've enquired about having an afterparty there but see how much difference there is in price for the whole day.

Only you and your OH can have the final say and you need to work out whether you want your big day just the 2 of you or with everyone else? we were going to do it abroad with party at later date but then we worked out price wise it only cost i think about £150 more to have it here with everyone on the day.... its £150 more but over the grand scheme of things what we're paying £150 isnt that much! xx

I'd say go for it, as per my previous post, we've had to put off our wedding as we're hoping to buy a house (fingers crossed) but if i had the option of having that kind of reduction in cost then i'd go for it :) xx

Hayley, we're saving to buy a house.
Even getting married on your own youre talking £1000.
Ive been looking - naughty me!
We can still cut back on things like-
Catering - a mum at school has her own catering company
Cake - my mums neighbour makes them, she did my sons christening cake and i only paid for ingredients
Photographer - my sisters bf does photos , so does my parents friends
Invites - i can do myself
plus we'l keep it to 40 for the day and then expand in the evening

I'm going to do a load of costings and hit my h2b with it later x
It feels more right and im way more excited than i have been in the past week, id even have no honeymoon x

I definitely think you've answered your own question there...
but your looking at ways to save elsewhere and the fact your going to do your costings and sit down with h2b i think your doing the right things...
remember, its your day, you two have to be happy!! And the fact your more excited now...its a bit of a tell tale sign but good luck and keep us posted!! xx
