I can't really afford to have the Bridesmaids hair and make up done so thought they could do it themselves. They all have different length hair and so its not like they can have the same style. Plus I am paying for their jewellery and hair accessories. When I was MOH at my friends wedding we did our own hair and make up then so I assume no one will mind.

The only one i feel should have something done is my mum, but she wouldn't want someone else doing her make up. Her hair is very fine too so is cheaper for me to do her hair as I know I would make it look pretty before she added her fascinator

    What do you think?

    Thanks all x

I think that is more than fair. If the bridesmaids want their hair doing by a make up artist or hairdresser there is nothing stopping them booking and paying for it themselves. You could explain to them you just can't afford to pay for them all to be done and ask them if they want to club together to get a mobile out etc or if they want to all book an appointment that morning with a salon etc.

I'm sure even your mum would be able to do the same but if you do decide that is what you want to do then I'm sure no one will mind that you paid to get your mum's done. After all she is the mother of the bride and doesn't get to see her daughter get married everyday.

When I was MOH for my best friend she gave me the choice. I could either pay to have the same people that was doing her's or do it myself. I opted to pay to have it done so I looked my best. So maybe you should do the same, give them the choice. But on her actual wedding day I got a nice surprise and her mum paid for my hair and make up anyways to say thank you. Im paying for my bm's hair but not make up as my cousin is doing it for us for free as my wedding present. But otherwise if she was charging I probably would of asked the girls to pay for themselves.

Thats fair. I'm paying for my hair and make up on the day and the call out charge (one charge no matter how many people then ££ per hairstyle/face make up. Any of my bridesmaids want their hair and make up doing they can pay for it themselves. As far as I'm concerned, I'm paying the call out charge and my hair and make up, all they have to pay is for their hair and make up if they want it done

Not at all! In fact my MoH was round the other evening and she was talking about how early we'll have to get up if we're leaving the hotel at 9.30am with getting my hair and make up done before that. No mention of her getting hers done at all. So no, I don't think it's expected x

I managed to find my hair and make up artist for £30 for hair and make up each so we can afford to do ours at that price as the little ones she is charging £10 for just the hair. I have asked though that if they want trials if they will pay for them to be done. I'm lucky though my MOH is a star and has been so good I can't complain at all.

If I was lucky enough to ever be a BM i wouldn't mind paying (would prefer to pay myself than do it myself as I'm rubbish at it). If you give them the choice I think its acceptable.

I wouldn't be offended either. As long as you are not worried about them turning up with outlandish hairstyles that you would be annoyed about, especially when they will go down in your wedding album history, lol. I would probably get my hair done by your hairdresser but pay for it, as my hair is a nightmare to do myself. It isn't that expensive anyway and they will understand you are on a budget, what bride isn't! :)
