Just wanted to know how others would feel about this...

Would you be annoyed if one of your friends kept copying your ideas for their wedding - and they were getting married before you?

First it was little things like decorations etc, but now it's my colour scheme too. I know in a way I should be a little flattered, but it's starting to get on my nerves now. I've even mentioned it jokingly (many a true word said in jest) and she just acts dumb. Just weird how she notices things that I'm doing and the following week she's magically doing them too!

yes i would be annoyed too. the way i see it is that you have your day how you want it and we work so hard to plan everything and then feel like someone is trying to steal our thunder! i would suggest not letting her into anymore of your plans and try to keep it hush hush.

    xx

Yes, i would be annoyed. I know its meant to be flattering but esp wen she's getting married before you i would see it as ppl will think you copied her. Probs best to keep the rest of ur plans underwraps, its ur wedding so she can come up with her own ideas for hers. Either that just change somethings of urs that she's already done like adding in another colour etc xxx

Yes I would be annoyed and I have been! My best friend is getting married April next year and has just booked the venue that she knew I wanted and loved! It was an old converted barn and she was originally wanting a manor house, so I told her about where I liked and now she has booked it! I am not happy and will not be telling her anything else now until hers is over and done with. Seems like the only way to make sure it doesn't happen I am afraid. Or if your friend asks about anything else tell her something that you dont actually want, that way she will think she is copying you but you never actually wanted them in the first place! xxxx

I had this with my friend before we sat down and spoke about things and decided to make planning our wedding (that are within 10 weeks of each other) fun. Ive got to admit though, some of my really good ideas ive kept to myself as im sure she has too. Cant help a bit of bridal rivalry lol xx

Haha.. I did slip in a few false details. Thought it was a bit mean but she'd annoyed me.

I'm certainly keeping my mouth shut from now on. You think you're just having a friendly conversation, both excited about our weddings... but then she's plotting to nick all my ideas.

And to top it all off, I don't think she's inviting me to hers anymore! LOL

Oooh I'd be fuming! Especially with her wedding being first, how rude! I've not had that problem with the wedding but when I was pregnant my friend was due 2 months before me. I'd told her the only name h2b and I could decide on was Liam, she told me her names (cant remember the boys name now)... ANYWAY... we were sat having lunch in a restaurant not long after, she bumped into a friend who was asking about the pregnancy etc, asked about her name for a girl, then name for a boy to which she replied LIAM! Furious! I asked what she meant when she knew that was the name we'd picked and her reply was that I could call my baby Liam too... honestly?? Thankfully she had a girl (beautiful girl who's my flowergirl) but it was a stressful time waiting to find out what she was having! x

I'd be the same as jill...livid! Defo listen to blondmumma and maybe mention a few things that your not actually doing or mention stuff you know there is no way in hell she'd be able to do it like a circus act with lions and trapeezes plus a talking chimp as your Master of Ceremonies lol

I suppose you could be as vindictive as poss if shes really hacked you off otherwise just dont tell her anything at all which is so hard coz theres always that someone you just want to tell every last detail to!

Hope you sort it chick x

I would definitely give her false information - then watch her copy that (and fall flat on her face when it looks a mess lol). In fact, I'd tell her that you were having a wedding abroad so that she could copy that and bug**r off away for her wedding lol.

Yeah I would be really annoyed. I dont know anyone else who is even close to be getting married out of my friends so I know that if I tell them something it wouldnt matter. I'm trying to keep most things between my H2B and clase family cus I want people to have a surprise. Im not even telling anyone the colour scheme! Only the bridesmaids and my mom :) x

I think she's doing it mainly because she doesn't know what she wants. Doesn't make it any less annoying though!

Jillybean - Just for a laugh, I'm going to tell her we've booked a talking chimp. That's hilarious!!! hehehe.

At the end of the day, I suppose it's going to be her that winds up disappointed... because she's going to end up with a day that's technically not her own because none of the ideas have been hers!

If I were you, I would be very annoyed too. I would think of the another colour scheme/theme. Sound really excited about it and hope she bites. That way you get to keep your ideas and also get a little satisfaction that she had to nick your ideas and has something different to your big day. I would go with the opposite of what you have so far. Don't whatever you do show her your dress, I have a feeling she would have that too. I hope this is helpful

I agree with the ladies who are saying tell her youre doing things different to what you are.
Then she'll look a bit of a fool wont she if she changes it all again to "copy" your "not-really" ideas and colours!!!

i want a tarts and vicar themed wedding, that actually sounds quite wicked. sorry off the point.

i have a friend like that, but fed her false details, only downside is they have changed their date to after me, so it was all in vain.

i know i might be a bit sad but if it was bad, and she wasn't coming up with anything on her own.. it would really do my head in... so i'd just stop discussing my ideas with her because you want your day to be unique obviously some things are unavoidable and someone in the world is going to do things the same as you but it doesnt have to be someone you knwo does it haha.. x
