I feel all I do on here is worry and complain! Sorry.

I booked my wedding band and djlast year as I saw them online and loved them. But since then I've been worrying about them. They perform at st James' park's Christmas party every year (or claim to) so that sounds good but at a recent wedding Fayre not a single one of the other entertainers there promoting, or even the st James' park staff knew who I was talking about. I would have thought musicians or wedding bands in the same city would know of each other? Especially if they claim to be 'the north east's premier wedding band'.
I kept asking the lead singer in this band if they had any upcoming shows or public events or if they'd be at any fayre's and he kept saying no which was also odd...

Should I be worried? I don't want to come out and ask him 'are you legit' but I'm so worried I've made a huge mistake with them and booked too soon.

Also, they are very reluctant to let me chose the songs I want them to sing, like, they won't deviate from the set list - I can take out but not put in.

I have only paid a £95 deposit, I could still cancel.. What do you think ladies??

    Xxxxx

ask them if they have any references or names of people who have booked them or where they are next playing so you can have a nosy ! personally i find it a little strange that a "wedding band" wont sing what you ask as thats the point they would normally sing "your song" and even do requests! i definitely do a little more research on them xx

One BIG day will lead to lots of little happy days !!

    Have you had a google?

If you google the 'north easts premier wedding band' quite a few come up. Do they have a website? If so that should list any upcoming gigs, however it might be they only do private bookings...xx

They are called p#rple s#pper band, there are no reviews online and only two recommendations on their Facebook page, from last year. I am so worried and think if I am going to do anything about changing then now is the time.
I asked him before if he could give me the name of someone else they had performed for or any gigs or occasions they had coming up and he just kept saying 'its all private gigs and I don't want to give out names' which I do understand for confidentiality reasons but it's so frustrating!!

I might email again and ask again..

Hang on, they should be able to provide references..I find it worry that there aren't any reviews anywhere too.

Also, the faqs on there website is almost exactly the same as the faqs of another north east wedding band, named after an operation an old lady might have..but they might just share some of the same members.

    Xx

it does say on there website they only do private functions so its unlikely you will get to see them before hand. i would just e-mail or call and let them know your worries if they are honest they will put your mind at ease. to be fair their website looks professional although some testimonials would have been nice . i would probably gently let them know that you are so worried you are considering going for a band you can actually go to see as your worried about their lack of contact . but in their defence they may be thinking especially if that have done the 100's of weddings they say that you have 13 months and maybe they dont need to rush to get the certificates they would know better than us how and when etc it maybe because insurance is yearly that it would ba out of date so they are waiting for renewal? and its wedding season so it could simply be they are booked solid! hoe you get it sorted

LauraM, that's a good point- if they only do private they will struggle to have an opportunity for me to go view them but just seemed off to me. I suppose if I am honest with them, they will be honest with me. Thanks Hun xx

And LauraJo, I have looked at the other one (spent ages trying to think of an old lady operation!) and it does seem similar... Hmmmmm, u r a good investigator! I'd never have noticed the FAQ are so similar! Maybe it's a standard template??

I keep thinking, if I feel uncomfortable with it now, I'll feel worse worrying closer to the day. I know £95 is a lot of money but I'd rather lose it and feel happier with a band I have seen and trust? Lots of thinking to do!!

It says that your band are a 4-7 piece - they might be associated with the hip-op band, which looks a lot larger (maybe there are four 'main' members and they 'borrow' the other three from hip op, or something like that?)

I had a look when I googled 'north easts premier wedding band' and went on hip ops, distinctly remembered the bit about only doing private functions, then when I went on your one I read the faqs and thought 'hmm, we've been here before').....

Sometimes I think I have too much time on my hands!

I'd send an email and ask again for references - suppliers should always provide references.

Do you know of anybody else who has used them?

    Xx

This may sound cheeky, but I would ask for a list of upcoming gigs and check them out! No one will notice you stood at the back listening.

If you like them, I dont see why ur worried. Does it really matter if they play somehwre or not as long as they are what u want and turn up on your day?

I'd be like Sarah and be inclined to ask them if I could watch them. It's worrying, but you do have the time to sort it out before your wedding, so try not to let it stress you x
