so i have spoken to the vicar of the church i wish to marry in. unfortunately it is not in our parish so one of us will have to attend sunday service for 6 months (once a month) the vicar said our date was free and she would pencil us in but it cannot be booked until we have been to the 6 services. does this mean our date is provisionally booked? i dont want to spend 6 months going to the church to then find out our date is gone and our reception venue dj etc would all be booked for that date.

im still waiting for the vicar to call me back i left a message last week which i think i may have screwed up :( (im not good on the answerphone i dont know y but they panic me.) she said only one of us need to go which will be my partner as i will look after my daughter who is 2. i asked for the dates and times of services that we should attend and said that i would 'send' him :( i didnt mean it like that do u think this is why i havent had a phone call back or am i being paranoid? sorry for long message x

i think your being paranoid. Vicars are human, so will know what you meant. and why cant you go as a family??? most churches are family friendly places...

if your that worried, give them another call (have it written down incase you get the answer phone again) just say something like

Hi I called last week regarding service times, I havent heard back and i was just wondering whether i offended with my comment about sending my partner. I didnt mean it the way it came across and i apologise if it has offended, that was not my intention.

or if you dont want to call again, drive past the church, most churchs post service times outside the place and she said that you need to go at least once a month, so you could always go first sunday of the month, so you know you have def been for that month.

Just an idea, but i doubt you have "screwed" up anyway, but it might put your mind at rest

I would say she has done a provisional booking for you. I rang the vicar today and am waiting for a call back to go and meet him but I want to get married in my parish church. I found the service times in my local parish magazine which gets delivered but they have coppies of it at the village hall too, have you been to the local hall to see if they have a similar one? xxx

I wouldn't worry, our vicar took almost a month to reply back to our 100 calls as they have a never ending schedule especially the run up to Easter. If I were you take ur 2yr old along to the Sunday morning service as she'll really enjoy it as most churches have a play area that most parents with children use this way they will meet and play with new friends.

On 1st Sept 2012 I will become Mrs Curry

My friends are getting married the day before I do and at the same church, they too have to attend church as it's not in there catchment. It's a very common thing and most ppl have to go through this process. If you haven't heard by the end of April definitely drop them another line

yeah i will do. i was mainly unsure if i could lose my date whilst attending as she firstly said she had pencilled our date in the diary but then said u couldnt book until attending the 6 times. i am guessing its provisionally booked unless we dont attend. x
