I know we still got 18months left but I'm still really worried we won't get everything done in time due to money! we not well off and have 2 young boys and just don't know where to start planning, I know some people can plan a really good wedding on a low budget but we not even set a budger yet, I'm just so worried and don't know what to do, when I try and speak to my H2B he just keep saying not to worry cause it will all come right in the end. Has anyone got any good advice been wanting this day to happen for so long and now I'm worried it won't happen at all :(

just sit down with pen and paper and list everything u need to pay and buy for the wedding then try get estimates and prices on everything once u have worked that out just divide it by how many months have to save and if u cannot afford to save that much per month then u then need to look at which areas u can cut back on theres always a way just ask on here and everyone will help u find a way x

First breath and set a budget hun then you know exactly what you can play with you need to realistically think about what you can save a month then start saving it in a separate account and don't touch it if you can help it. Everyone has money worries at some point through their wedding journey its only natural but you need to explain to H2B that just like money weddings do not grow on trees xx

dont worry too much about the church, i dont know what your budget is but im a student who will have finished by the time i get married but im trying to save while im studying - its hard as i only have 11 months and most things have to be paid before then! but i went to the church and im having the service the bells a choir and the organist and it comes to £700 which i thought was cheap but if you just want the basic do no bells, choir, organist etc its about £250

i would like the bells its something i've always wanted, but it all depends on how much it will cost, will have to sort a budget out as my partner has only just managed to get a job after being out of work for nearly 2 years, thats why we have set the date no to give ourselfs plenty of time to plan it

The Church of England have their own wedding website where you can take a look round and find out bits about everything - they state that the legal costs of the wedding are less than £350 and anything more than that is optional. Hope that helps x

How about you work out what you can realistically save each month and then use that to work out your budget? There is no point in setting yourself up for a wedding you can't pay for but you can book things on the grounds that you know you can afford it in that time scale. There are loads of ways of having a good wedding without it costing the earth or looking cheap. It legally costs about £400 to get married so the rest is just extra trimmings. If you had a church then it would be pretty and make for good photographs. You could buy a dress from china or ebay. You don't have to have fancy cars etc. Bridesmaids more often than not will help to pay towards dress costs etc. Ask friends to make cup cakes or find someone to decorate a m&s cake.

People want to help you enjoy your day. My friend asked everyone to pay for their meal rather than gifts. It turned out they paid for their meals and brought gifts anyway because they wanted them to enjoy their day. Don't be afraid to ask. It will also mean that the people celebrating your day are genuinely wanting to be there for you and not just turning up for a free meal ticket.

We have a hotel near us that do the whole evening reception including wedding breakfast and cake etc for £750 so there are bargains to be had.

Working out what you can realistically save seems the best way to start to me. Then pick your dress style & look for cheaper copies, or try to find one in this year's January sales if you can - could pick up a real bargain! And get things like balloons n favours from eBay, use friends' skills (anyone any good at flower arranging/dress making/ catering/creating or printing the invitations), don't be afraid to ask for discounts, and don't feel obliged to put loads of money behind the bar or do a really fancy spread! For example, we aren't loaded so we're trying to organise a hog roast & a cake buffet rather than a 3course meal so there are ways to cut costs out there.
Good luck & keep us up-to-date of how you are getting on. I've found some great tips just browsing the forum so get reading! And have fun!

I think the other brides to be have given great advice and all I would add is that I am getting married around the same time and I looked at what I could save each month after all the things I regularly have to buy and used that as a starting point for my budget. Providing you can keep to your budget and research where the bargains are you can get really good deals on things. My friends wedding budget was minimal and she had a church do so it is possible :)

Don't worry about the big day not happening because your h2b sounds like he wants it as much as you do he is just not proactive in planning it! Best of luck :) xxx
