For those of you that missed my earlier post the background is that my mum was so convinced that I wouldnt lose enough weight to fit into my original dress (that i stupidly ordered 2 sizes too small), that she secretly ordered me a back up from a chinese seller on the bay of e. The feedback was good etc but the dress never arrived though she'd paid in full and the seller disapeared from bay of e. The problem was that she didnt take action until just over the 45 days that paypal allow to start a dispute as the seller had estimated it would take that long to make and ship. Anyway the good news is that paypal have accepted this as extenuating circumstances and are still honouring their promise of a refund.
The moral of this story is I guess to go on recomendation and get your dress in plenty of time, fortunately Ive proved my mum wrong and got into my original dress but had we been relying on the china dress Id be pretty stuck now with 5 weeks to go.
Also bear in mind that paypal are willing to use discretion if you land in a similar situation x

Thankfully paypal is pretty good for protecting us from scams etc. I'm so pleased your mum got her money back. I always buy through paypal if I can.

I thought that is the whole point of a seller getting proof of postage so they can prove that they have had the item?
