As some of you may know, I've had many difficulties with getting my daughter to sleep on her own. Well we've been taking little steps and making progress, however tonight is the one I'm not looking forward to! She's turned 18 months old today so we think it's time to stop the last breastfeed (the one she has to go to sleep in the evening!) So instead of feeding her to sleep downstairs, I'll be taking her up in a minute and try to get her to sleep without the b**b! She'll still be in our bed for now - one step at a time - once we've cracked her going to sleep without a breastfeed, it'll be time for her cot! I feel a bit sad really to be finishing breastfeeding, it's been our 'thing' for 18 months :( Wish me luck! x

aww good luck
my little munchkin is nearly 3 and she has refused to go asleep tonight! h2b has just had to bring her down :-(
I did the control crying in the end for both my youngest, but it was difficult, more for me than them! xx
WARNING:
I say the first thing I think of!

Oh dear Laura! Kaz I'm a big wimp - I've refused to do controlled crying! I've done it in several smaller steps instead - which are going well so far and should hopefully have the same outcome (fingers crossed).
Well tonight went REALLY well - much better than expected! It only took her 45 mins to get to sleep - she was in a lovely mood - very cuddly, no tantrums, and didn't really seem to mind going without a breastfeed. So YAY! Looks like we made the right decision, and because it went so well I don't feel too sad about finishing breastfeeding now! Hope it continues to go this well! Thanks for the support! x

Aww that's great hun - it feels great when you get through another stage doesnt it! I remember thinking I was going to have a nightmare of a time getting my son off his dummy (he was a dummy fiend) so started off not letting him have it when he was up and about, then decided one night to try him without and we havent looked back since - very proud of him for being so good about it! x

Well done hunni :-)
We all get there eventually.
My lil girl was attached to her dummy, sometimes she would walk about with 3 lol (1 in each hand & 1 in mouth) i used to stress about it but after a visit from santa & loads of toys she gave up all 27 dummys that we found hidden all over the house, some in unimaginable places lol.
fingers x'd for you that your lil one will just come of the b**b with out a 2nd thought :-)
