Hey girls! Just after your oppion on some thing. I don't drink at all and my OH dosnt really drink a lot. I was wondering what u girls thought of having none alcoholic dinks for the welcome drinks? It is costing us loads of money to have wine for the welcome dinks and I don't see the point on paying for something I don't even like just so every one else is happy.
Do u think I am bieing selfish and unreasonable? X

No I don't, we don't want table wine and it's caused a right stink with the family.... Remember theses are OUR days, we have what WE want. I'm through with people giving their 'opinions' you do what you want

I tried to persuade my OH to have a non-alcoholic wedding as I don't drink at all so we've gone with a compromise in probably non-alcoholic drinks for the arrival, wine at the meal and either for the toasting! Btw, NOT selfish etc . Your day, your rules! I went to an all vegetarian wedding once and all others complained beforehand, on the day they raved about it and said how great it was so it just goes to show what prats people can be :D xx

Its your wedding day have it your way. If wine champagne etc wasn't in our package I doubt id have it either. Im not a fan of wine id rather a bottle of beer or cider (My dad would have a fit if I had a bottle of beer during the meal or in any of the official photos.

No you're not being selfish - if the drinks weren't included in our package we probably would have kept with non-alcoholic welcome drinks to keep costs down. In all likelihood if you opt for a fruity punch or a sparkling fruit drink (such as Shl0er) then not many people will be able to tell the difference (apart from the remaining sober part). I'm asuming you're having a pay bar so even if they can tell the difference and their intention is to get drunk then they still can if they want to. We never drink wine except at a wedding because it's on the table already and there's never usually any room to put another glass down, but as a guest I would definitely prefer to sit down and enjoy the meal with a drink I actually like. Having said that, OH's Dad is a massive wine drinker and has put himself in charge of selecting the table wines from our wedding package.

Thank girls just needed your reassurance. The thing is as I don't drink and my OH dosen't drink wine so we don't have a clue what is good wine and what is bad. We are relying on the venu to tell us. They are quite a 'posh' venu we are paying a bit more then we wanted to for it in the 1st place. I am worried that they will give us expensive wine just because I dont have a clue, they will see £££ and just give me expensive wine because they can. Xx

If in doubt just go for the house wine (which is usually the cheapest option). I promise you, most of your guests will be unable to tell the difference between the house and the expensive stuff.

It's your wedding, so have what you like. You can have a tasty pretty glass of something to drink whether it contains alcohol or not. We chose Kir Royale
