Hi ladies, so im having a bbq for the wedding breakfast not 100% sure how its works, do they cook it all up then set it up like a buffet something I will find out. So we are still having tables and will be like a sit down meal. Traditionally there are couple of bottles of wine on each table, but do you think it will be wierd to have wine with a bbq?

I'm not a wine fan my self but I don't see how wine would be wierd. H2B's mum always drinks wine at a BBQ, mind you she has drink of wine every night!!!

Hi Kirsty I am doing the same and I'm not sure what happens either but think they cook it whilst you wait kind of thing as it will be a giant BBQ. We've decided to have wine on the table and just have an arrival and toast drink. One to make it cheaper!
But I think wine would be fine on the table or you could always have something different like Pimms or a bottle of cider. Make it as different as you want it's your day xx

Ok that helps loads as h2b said wine was fine, but it was me who was in two minds about it, I guess in my head when I picture a bbq there is always beer so I just thought people (the guests) might not like it. But as h2b says its a gesture and the bar will be open so if anyone wants a beer they can buy it themselves, not going to stress about it, every wedding I have been to has provided wine on the table regardless of what food was being served.

I get what you mean Kirsty, I can't imagine having wine with a bbq (we're planning to have one too) always make me think of beer and cider! We'll be buying a lot of the booze since we're hoping for a diy venue, so we will have plenty wine for toast but will have beer etc. too!

Yeah we are hiring a village hall and they have their own bar with the profit going to charity, but we are allowed to supply our own wine for meal and toast etc, so beer is avaliable all the time so people will have a choice it just means they will have to pay for it, the bottles of beer are £2 and anything on tap is £3 so not too bad.
