    Good morning ladies,

Hope you all had a good sleep!

To save money, b2b and I are going to pay corkage to the venue and buy our own wine.

Ideally, we'll pay no more than £6 a bottle inc VAT (then add on the corkage).

My faves are generally new world sauvignon blancs, chenins but also riesling. In terms of red, I like south american cab sauv, merlot.

Does anyone have any specific recommendations for vineyards and brands? Not sure if it counts as advertising if you name a specific brand on here- can a mod claify please?

    Thanks for your help.

As neither of us are wine conniseurs and it's a summer wedding, we've decided to forgo both red and white in case one is drunk more than the other, and we're just serving a rose pinot grigio on the tables, with a pay bar open if some want red etc.

There are actually UK based vineyards about so look around, you could have a day trip to visit and taste and you may get discount if you buy a few cases etc!

Now I am not a wine drinker but as an Austrian I do have to recommend Austrian wine ofc :-) Some (like Riesling) are available in Waitrose. But I understand not cheaply to obtain here.

I can recommend the Los Nucos reds from M&S, @Liza247. Really drinkable and not overly heavy so works with a meal or on its own. Lucky you to have h2b at M&S!!

Pia, I'm fond of some Austrian wines too. There's also a few Hungarian ones I've discovered. We've decided to go to Hungary for a short break over easter and are going to incorporate a wine tour. Might come up with something (and have to pay a LOT for excess luggage!!

We love Castillo Diablo wines but they are about £7
New world wine - mcguillian estate is rather lovely too, that's about £10 but I only ever get it when it's on offer. I think it's the semi lion. Blanc that my sil raves about....

We however opted for the middle of the road drinks package - we are getting a glass of sparkling on arrival, 1/2 bottle house wine with meal and sparkling for toast. Top of my head it's about 15 pp.

    I'm now a married woman
    I have a gorgeous husband
    Whats to do now
Theres no more wedding planning to do

I love Hungary. Haven't been there in a long time but went there as a child several times a year and on many a holiday. It's just a shortish drive from where I am from and my aunt used to work in Budapest during the week. Before the iron curtain fell it was dead cheap - as in really really dead cheap. After that it got more and more expensive but I believe in comparison to other countries it's still very reasonably priced. And Budapest is really beautiful.
