I'm only gonna have a couple - h2b doesn't drink at all!

I'm on soft drinks with maybe one or two drinks with dinner. I can't have too much with the pain killers I take or they make my arms go floppy. TBH I can have a good time without a drink and I want to be able to remember my day and enjoy it not spend it in the loos being sick. Even if I could drink I wouldn't have that much.

There'll be quite a bit of drink at ours, but I don't want to get drunk. I'm staying at the hotel the night before, so I can get ready there, with my BMs, so I'll probably have a big breakfast before getting ready, and a snack around midday. We then have canapes with the welcome drinks, but, we'll be having photos taken during this so I'll prob only have maybe 1 buck's fizz. There's then wine and champagne with the meal, but I don't really drink much while eating, so might have one glass and then water.

I imagine I'll get a bit tipsy in the evening but don't want to be drunk, I want to remember it :-)

Like SpecialSunday, we're ensuring there's food available start to finish (canapes; meal; evening buffet) so that people aren't drinking on an empty stomach. We've also spaced the drinks out, and chosen carefully eg the welcome drinks are buck's fizz because it's lighter and not too alcoholic.

I'm going to see how I feel on the day, I really prefer to be in the mood to drink, chances are I might be just as happy having non-alcoholic drink as having loads of alcohol. Also alcohol tends to make me go a little red in the face, which I don't like!

I dont know my limits in the sense that as you somedays 2 glasses can send me loopy but other days I can drink all night and feel fine.
So I have gone for "I'll drink and if i get drunk I get drunk Im not too strict on myself" with the aim that I will be drinking wine until 10pm and then I might have a brandy or 6 ;-)

I will have a couple, but won't be getting drunk - h2b will probably drink too much and fall asleep in a corner!

I am planning on alternating my drinks, but it's h2b I'm more worried about as one year on his birthday he got a little too drunk and fell asleep mid sentence before anything else could happen if you catch my drift...

i will have a glass of champagne in the morning and then drink over dinner/speeches and then thats prob it. i dont want to get drunk and not remember things.

I don't drink, so will be on soft drinks but will have some bubbly for the toast and a bit in the morning with Orange juice (dont know what that tastes like- Mums orders as I have to its my wedding day haha).

Also I hope H2b doesn't have too much, hes not a big drinker, I want us both to enjoy and remember the day that we will only have once and is costing alot!

Me and h2b have discussed this quite a bit, as I'm also on painkillers which actually make me slur and I am really worried that guests will assume I'm drunk.

Just tell them straight hun - you dont want them bladdered at your wedding! Ask them to pace themselves or alternate their drinks with soft drinks / water.

You can always put a funny (but threatening) "and you better watch your drinking or I'll kill you" slant on it lol

On our wedding website I have mentioned that we are all going out for drinks the night before the wedding - but I have also said:

a beautiful sea side resort with wonderful views, and more pubs in a square mile than I think anyone can count!! Have fun - but ensure that you are bright eyed and bushy tailed for the actual wedding!!!!!!!

I will be having a drink, but im lucky my body knows it limits and i naturlly stop wanting to drink before i get too drunk (for some reason I never get really drunk). It varies on how much that is so will see on he day!!
Its my sister (MOH) im worried about, she gets over emotional when she drinks and LOVES everyone :/

tell me about it - she even pulled him aside and if front of ALL of our guests decided to ask extremely loudly 'is this what you want or is SHE making you do it' x

Oh no Cheryl I am so sorry for you. my MIL2B asked H2B a few weeks ago to reconsider marrying me, she was very drunk when she called, and since she is slightly nicer say she'll support us (only emotionally to H2B not me) but something broke for me

My MIL is lovely, but my own mother is an alcoholic and combined with her tendency to be nasty, violent and confrontational when drunk, we considered having a completely alcohol free wedding! Luckily, she and I fell out permanently last year. It was the only thing I was really worried about when we first started planning, as she prefers to make scenes at big events and I knew a wedding would be her ideal stage!

Luckily I'm closer to my nana than my mum so I still have her, a lot of people have said I'm disloyal to my mum but I've always been my nana's girl and she's always taken my side, I've always taken hers :)

to be honest Im not worried about any one in particular getting drunk at our wedding.

There is one person I worry who will get a little too amourous with the other male guests even in front of her partner and their wives/gf but people know what she's like and hopefully we'll be able to spot it soon enough! Its embarassing more than hurtful!

I really feel for you cheryl! I am VERY lucky and love my MIL. We get on brilliantly, I used to live with her (for just over a year) and I have said to her and to my H2B that I am very lucky because to be honest If I didnt get on with my MIL then I doubt mine and H2Bs relationship would have lasted this long because we had to live with his mum so we could afford to get our own place. I was super lucky. She's an angel x

it probably was about that amount for Mike tbh!!! at the end of the night he did ask if i was goin into town with my work mates (em hello am wearinag a wedding dress and its our wedding night??) and asked if he could go to the casino with his friend barry

oh yeah baby I WILL BE DRINKING!!! H2B and i enjoy drinking!! and my family + his +rugby players and their hardcore scrummies we will be enjoying a refreshment or 20!! xxx

vodka or Rose or red doesnt seam to get me drunk - BUT I dont want to drink red on the day as I dont want to

a) Spill any on my dress
b) Have black stained teeth in the photos.

Good point rhiannonollie- I hadn't thought about the stained teeth!!

My and h2bs family are both quite big drinkers (as are we!!) but we have no bad aggressive or embarrassing drunks so not fretting at all about people drinking!

As for me- i'm expecting h2b to drink quite a bit but I think i'd be too busy mingling to worry about getting too drunk!

rhianonlollie. im exactly the same as you. vodka and rose do not touch the sides. i will be having a drink but lucky for me i never lose control and as h2b as already told me "book dog in kennels for 3 nights as i wont be in any state to collect her on sunday". may have to take a book to read on wedding night!!
