Hi everyone, as we're getting married in Florida, we we're just talking about my passport. I don't know if I would have to change my passport before we go as I will be coming back with a different name or do I just keep the one I have with my maiden name and get it changed when we come back? We will also be going straight to the honeymoon destination from the wedding so we won't be coming back to the UK until after the honeymoon. Hope someone can help I'm really confused now and a bit worried incase there is a problem with my passport or somethin!x

Your passport name has to match the name on the flight tickets.
Everything we have booked I have just booked in my maiden name as that's what my passport matches. You can change you name on your passport before you go but tbh it seems like a lot of hassle.

    Taken from passport website:

Changing your name when marrying or forming a civil partnership
You should think carefully about whether to change the name on your passport before the ceremony or wait until you've returned from a foreign trip.
This is because the name on your passport should match the name in which you booked your travel. If the name on your passport does not match the booking:
some countries may not let you in
some travel companies may not let you board their flights
This may be the case even if you carry your marriage or civil partnership certificate with you. You should check with your travel agent or the consulate of the country you plan to visit.
IPS can change the name on your passport up to three months before the ceremony. They will cancel your old passport and issue you a new one. But the new passport is 'postdated'. This means you cannot use it before the day of the ceremony. Some countries will not issue visas for postdated passports. You should check with the consulate of the country concerned.

    Hope this helps x

Hi have you booked your tickets in your maiden name? Your passport has to match this. We got married in cyprus and I travelled in my maiden name, I'll change my passport now I'm home xx

I got married in Las Vegas 3 weeks ago. I still haven't changed my passport. I decided that it was easier to travel on my current passport and sort it all out when I got home. Perfectly legal to do this. Plus, I booked the hotel and flights in my name so we would have had to have paid to change the name on the travel documents if I'd have changed my passport beforehand.
What with all the other costs you have with a wedding, I decided I won't be changing my passport until I really have to!
Even when I've changed all my bank stuff etc. it's still perfectly legal to travel on my passport in my maiden name - I'll just have to remember to book tickets in my old name LOL!

My passport finishes in 2014 so i'm just going to change my name then. Rather than pay to change before it runs out, squeeze the last 2 years out of it. lol
