    We're thinking of using lotto scratch cards as favours for the men and wanted to hole punch a corner then tie with ribbon to a wine glass but someone at work said this would make the card invalid if they won because it's defaced. I though as long as the void box was intact then it was OK. Don't want to spend money on scratchcards if no one can win anything so does anyone know if a hole would void the win? xxx

    You will also need to make sure that the barcodes on the reverse of the card are also intact as they scan these to check if it is a winner.

    I looked on the lotto website and all it says is

    the Company may at its discretion declare a Claimed Ticket invalid and accordingly shall not be obliged to pay any Prize if:
    •(i) the Claimed Ticket is not fully legible or is mutilated, altered, unreadable, incomplete or has been tampered with in any manner;

    I don't know if this includes hole punching or not. Is this mutilation?

    Thanks so much/ I'm glad I asked now! How else can I use scratch cards as a favour then without threading ribbon through?

    I just asked my mums partner who runs a shop/post office and he said as long as none of the required information, ie barcodes and numbers, are untouched then it should be fine. This is of course his opinion so i would recommend asking camalot. Hope it helps a little. When i used to work in a shop we used to get scratch cards in all kinds of a mess, but as long as the barcodes and the serial numbers were plainly visible it was ok. xx

    don't do it incase! You could put them in an envelope, hole punch the envelope to tie it to the glass then people can keep them safe and not void them! then you can write the name on the envelope and bingo - name place cards and favours all in one!

    I know it would be fiddly but you could wrap them in colour coordinated wrapping paper like a little present and attach them to the stem of the glass with ribbon and a little gift label..individualised so acts as a place card too.

    I agree as long as the vital info such as the bar code is damaged then they are fine. We used to have to put holes in them when they come back winners to send of to camelot anyway. They cash it in by scanning the bar code so it doesn't matter if someone has circled the winning numbers etc as all the info they need is in the bar code.

    My day guests are getting a scratch card, I've got some envelopes to put them in and I'll be hole punching the corner and they'll have brown ribbon in corner - just for a bit of fun really. Imagine how bad it would be to win a jackpot and not be able to cash it, now that would be horrible.... tie it in with your scheme, I've written personalised lucky poems on the front of the envelopes (well printed)
