Hello ladies, hope you are doing ok today? I was wondering if anyone else had changed their minds about venues over and over again as I seem to be doing?! I thought I had made my mind up last night about having wedding in Oakham, Rutland, was quite excited about it all, but then this morning I got an e-mail from a company that organise weddings in France. Me and h2b would love to get married over in Paris and it is a similar price to getting married here but keeping it intimate and having reception meal up the Eiffel Tower! But then the problem arises of your guests getting there, should we be paying for them, I mean like for our parents? Those of you getting married abroad, are you paying for travel and accommodation? Just wish I could make my mind up. If it wasn't for having children already we would just bugger off and get married on our own, but with children come more family, lol. So torn as to what to do! Ranting at and end, thank you! :) x

We originally went for Eastwell Manor in Ashford, but we found that there, it was very much, there way or not at all. Soo we are now getting married at Dorton House in Sevenoaks.... which is lovely, but I now think it's waaay too expensive.... for just venue hire and food, we're paying them nearly £10,000. Soo, I'm kinda having a look around for other places now too.... with less than 6 months to go!

It is difficult, will have to have a chat with Greg when he gets home. It isn't as grand as your venue in Oakham, lol, it is just the registry office and The Victoria Hall. Still waiting to hear back about how much it is to hire, and then I can decorate it how I want. We can't afford to spend more than a few grand to get married but that is what happens when you have 3 children, lol. It will still look amazing once I am done with it though, and the photos on the internet are actually really nice. x

Oh Kaya, I feel for you but am glad at the same time that I am not alone in changing plans every month, lol. I couldn't part with £10,000 even if I had that kind of money, it would make me feel ill, but knowing we could get married in Paris and have a meal with our close family and friends for about £4000 I can justify, it would be amazing! x

We don't have that kind of money, h2b just is soo set with how he wants to do things, he wants to invite everyone he's ever met and wants a sit down meal.... the idea of spending as much as we're likely to be spending on 1 day makes me feel soo sick!! And we're not even getting everything we want.... ridiculous!! And yeh, getting married abroad sounds lovely, I'd love to elope but h2b has said no, as his nan couldn't come, which I completely understand x

Our budget is only 5k babe, and we have 3 kids too lol At the end of the day a wedding is about you two saying your vows in front of those that matter.............the rest is just a bonus.
So where ever you pick just make sure it feels right for YOU TWO and dont try to please other people. Dont worry about changing your mind either, after all we are women it is our right to change our minds then change it again hehehe when you find the RIGHT venue there will be no changing your mind.

I hope it works out for you Kaya, it seems to get everything you want you need to spend at least £20,000 and that is just plain madness! It is a special day but it doesn't have to have gold dripping from everything to make it nice, lol. I really love the Paris idea but don't think my mum and dad could afford to pay for the travel and accommodation, unless I can find a large self catering villa for all the parents and siblings it might not every be my dream come true. Thanks Hails, I keep forgetting it is womans prerogative to change her mind, lol. x

mine hasn't been my venues its been my bloomin' colour scheme! I can't choose between, cherise/white/silver or cadbury purple/white/silver, baby blue/ white/silver or pastel pink white and silver. We are now decided on our theme we are having butterflies as i love them and steve calls me his babylou butterfly (baby-lou as my name is sarah-louise and i used to and still do get major butterflies when im around him!) so we thought it'd be a personal touch to the wedding. Oh and our first dance song choice has changed again too for the zillionth time

We're spending £16k atm. *gulp* I'm working hard to try and convince h2b otherwise though! Went to a wedding in the summer where the couple didn't spend much atall..... but the service and reception were soo personal... best wedding I've ever been to. I'd love my wedding to be like that!

That is cute ButterflyDreamer and nice that it is something personal to both of you in the theme. Our first dance song is the only thing that hasn't changed along with the theme, it is just where to have it! I am gulping for you too Kaya, it is quite unlike a man to be concerned with having all the trimmings, I bet you wish he wasn't, lol. Sometimes simple is perfect and that is what I hope ours will end up being, summery and light not overly fussy. Still waiting for an e-mail back from the venue in Oakham though, I am not a very patient person with these things! :)

Womans perogative to change her mind. Just make sure you are 100% before you put down a deposit. We nearly lost £300 thru me changing my mind a few weeks after paying the deposit. Luckily the venue were kind enough to transfer the money to meals/stays. Not all places are that kind. xxx

If we change venues we're gonna lose £1000 deposit.... but might still save us money! :-|

I keep changing my mind about lots of things but I love my venue so am sticking there.
Perhaps you should have a cht with your oparents or something to see what would work best and weigh up the pros and cons of having a wedding here and a wedding in France. Might help you decide if you have a list of good and bad points about each and how much everything will cost
Best of luck deciding hun xxx

If you really like France why don't you talk to your parents now about it being a possibility? I see your wedding is still a way away so could give them enough time to save. Personally I think it could be that the venue here just isn't the one for you - keep looking and also look further afield - there are huge differences in price across the country for a very similar service/venue.

Thanks for all your comments, think we have settled on having wedding close to home and having a honeymoon in Paris. Will be lovely to go on our own this time and do all the things we couldn't afford to do when the kids were with us on holiday. We could still have a romantic meal in the Eiffel Tower too so it will all work out. Just need to hear back from woman at the venue and hopefully it will be reasonable and I can start planning properly! :D xx

You are so not alone there. I have swapped gone back and then back again. I have only been planing sense september last year so you wouldnt think i would have much to change but so far i have changed my mind on dress4 times (glad it was only just looking online and not buying) i have changed reception, colour and flowers dont worry. I think the only thing i havent changed is the cake
Cant wait to to marry Martyn
Wishes the wedding would come faster
XxX
CommentAuthorGregorysGirl
I have changed my mind on the cake too, quite a few times, but funnily gone back to the one I liked originally, fits in with the colour scheme too so it will hopefully all look gorgeous! Wish it was this year when it was meant to happen but it will fly by and now I have more time to concentrate on losing a bit of weight and fitting into my gorgeous dress! :)
