Eugh Im so sick of thinking about this now!

I viewed 3 venues last week, the first one was AMAZING but the night time room really put me off plus it was the most expensive and if we were paying that much for our wedding we'd want it to be perfect.
Then there was 2 and I posted yday about accommodation issues which we sorted out, so we were all set to go and book the chosen venue this weekend.

Then we get an email last night from the wedding coordinator who says that they can no longer reduce the package (like she had told us) for one glass of wine not two, and that the price per person she gave us through email was incorrect. So the price at this venue has went up by £700.

Which in hindsight is affordable but its put me off that shes made this error (bearing in mind ive been in contact with her for 2 weeks) makes me think what else could go wrong!

The other venue is nice dont get me wrong but just not that wow factor that i think every bride is looking for!

Im fed up of lookng at venues and I know my h2b is too, I just dont know what to do!

Do we book somewhere on the hopes that no more mistakes would happen, do we book somewhere that we like/love? Do we take a break and not look at them for a while?

    I dunno :(

I'd take a break, look again next month - you've ages of time yet, we booked our church and venue 13 months before our big day x

Some of the venues we've seen have already got bookings for the weekend that we want our wedding - im worried they'll go before we've got a chance to book :(

Well then you need to decide if the second venue is the one you really want, if it isn't, then you've not found the right one and need to keep looking - you can't compromise on a venue as you'll be there all day and need to love it!!

Or ask the 3rd venue if they have any contacts who can help decorate the room, to get the wow factor like a starlight backdrop, draping garlands etc - if the venue is cheaper you may have money left to put towards decorating the room?

If I remember rightly you said that it was Linden Hall that you loved? Well I have heard fantastic reviews there, I can see how you maybe are a little put off but if you really love it then go for it.
Alternatively there are a lot of other venues in Northumberland that have the stately home feel so maybe look around these and see what you think. Off the top of my head there is Slaley Hall, Doxford Hall, Eschott Hall, Alnwick Castle, Bamburgh Castle and also Otterburn Tower. Or come closer into Newcastle and there is the vermont hotel (right in the city centre so accommodation for guests isn't much more of an issue) or Mansion House (about 10 mins from the city centre) xx

i think you need to take a break for a bit and then go from there if you out and about and you pass somewhere that advertises weddings then pop in but have a break from actual appointments, we just dropped in a lot of the time on the venues and they were more than happy to show us around

I had this problem, not helped by the fact I wasn't getting married near where I live so had to fit venue finding into a couple of long weekends.

The venue we have isn't my dream venue as the 2 I preferred weren't practical for one reason or another. I think you need to accept that its unlikely anywhere will be perfect and decide which aspects of a venue are post important to you and chose the one that meets the most important criteria.

Perhaps go to the venue you liked that changed price and just make sure you always deal in writing/by email so there is no confusion.

Bridalmiss - thats a really good idea - dressing up Longhirst Hall to make it what we want :) as its a lot cheaper we're able to do that.... hmmmm......

Zowie - unf we've actually looked at all them and maj are out of price range! The Vermount is stil an option but h2b wants countryside as our backdrop!

Mrs Mann I thought of that just drive around and see what we come across :)

Yeah it was linden and its an amazing hotel - I think if we ended up going for it then id have to sit down with her and have all the prices etc wrote into our contract - then if she undercharges us thats her problem lol!

The photographer that we have has been sending us a list of all the venues hes worked at, and the only one outa 60 hes sent us that we hadnt considered was Beamish Hall - so currently awaiting a price list and details from there :) x

Ah honey.... i think you need to write a list of what you need at the venue and then tick them off. Our venue is lovely and suits everything we want but i always dreamed of a big castle but in reality can i afford this, No. We viewed a smaller castle, hotels, golf clubs, etc and our chosen venue doesnt have the WOW factor outside but is lovely inside and got the accommodation we needed but the staff sold it for us.... so attentive and the wedding planner was amazing and i can see it being a stress free wedding.

Have you tried going to local wedding fairs? There might be somewhere you never thought was a wedding venue that could tickle your fancy xx

i find it the best way to find things when your not looking for them, you just stumble across them. we did this we went to see another venue and was driving past so we thought why not lets go have a look and we both just fell in love

selina theres no wedding fairs on until september but if ive not found any by then i will be going to all of them ha!

me and h2b have had a think today and the longhirst venue - its lovely but we thought about dressing it up more to fit our taste - and i emailed the wedding coordinator about this if it was allowed etc and she sent me pics through of what the main room would like it if it had LED star covers all around the room and it looks lovely - like a totally different room!
    But which one to have?

No need to worry about that just yet, think about it more when you've got your theme etc in mind - looks like you've chosen a venue though! Woohoo!
